Catherine E. Mercer
PAWTUCKET - Catherine E. Mercer, 88, of Pawtucket died Thursday, March 3, 2011. She was the wife of John A. Mercer. They had been married 64 years. Catherine was born in Rumford, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Waters) Smith.
Besides her husband she leaves her three daughters, Peggy Duffell and her husband David, Susan Gupta and her husband Romel of Lincoln, Rosemary Lloyd and her husband Douglas of Milford, Ct., four sons, John Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Thomas and his wife Susan of Lincoln, Timothy of North Providence, and Terrence and his wife Karen of Pawtucket, fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mercer was also the mother of the late Donna Froment. Mrs. Mercer leaves her sister Barbara Oliveira and her husband Jack of Cumberland. She was pre-deceased by seven sisters and four brothers.
The funeral for Mrs. Mercer will be Monday at 9:00am from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 193 Walcott Street, Pawtucket at 10:00am. The burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Mercer's calling hours will be Sunday 3-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
