Burned-out home’s condition preventing investigation of blaze

PAWTUCKET — The unsafe conditions in what remains of a graceful, gambrel-roofed Colonial at 34 Utton Ave. have prevented fire officials from determining the exact cause of Saturday morning’s fire.

A two-alarm blaze broke out in the two-and-a-half-story, woodframe house at around 4 a.m. Pawtucket firefighters had to deal with bitter cold temperatures and icy conditions as they worked for over seven hours to fully extinguish the fire and douse stubborn “hot spots”.
