Betty J. Lees
LINCOLN - Betty J. Lees, 93, of Sayles Hill Road, died Tuesday, February 18 at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Lees.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William E. and Myrtis (Weaver) Martin, she had lived in Lincoln for many years.
Mrs. Lees was a schoolteacher at the Lonsdale School in Lincoln for twenty-six years, retiring in 1986.
She was a graduate of Pawtucket High School, Class of 1939, and R.I. State College, Class of 1943, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.
She was a member of the Blackstone Valley Historical Society, a member of the Rhode Island Historical Society, a charter member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus, and a Docent at the John Brown House, Providence. She was a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Pawtucket, serving on its Women's Guild.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy G. St. Jean of Cumberland, and Nancy J. Rowell of Manville; one son, Richard C. Lees of Vasselboro, ME; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be celebrated, Saturday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. in BELLOWS FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. Private burial will take place in the spring in Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry.
