Arline M. Ferland
PROVIDENCE - Our beloved Arline M. Ferland, 80 of Punta Gorda FL and Providence, RI passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 10 at the Epoch Assisted Living Center on Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI. She will be dearly missed.
She was the beloved wife for 61 years of Roland O. Ferland. Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Leonard and Orila (Mayhew) Leonard. In addition to being a great wife and mother Arline was a dynamic lover of life, a talented artist and a longtime member of the Providence Art Club. She spent many wonderful summers on Sagamore Beach in Sandwich, MA raising her sons, Jim and Roger, while gaining inspiration for her art work. She was a dog lover her whole life and became a breeder of her favorite Doberman Pinchers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Roland J. "Jim" Ferland and his wife Cynthia H. Aptt of Charlestown, RI. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Andrew, Meredith, Katherin, Gretchen, Benjamin and MacKenzie, and great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Tyler, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Kimberly Cleary and the mothers of her grandchildren, Betsey J. Von Spreckelsen and Leslie Ferland. Arline was predeceased by her son Roger Ferland, M.D. And her brother, Clifford R. Leonard.
Her funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 10:00 AM in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI. Calling hours are 5-8 PM on Monday at the DARLINGTON MORTUARY OF L. HEROUX AND SON, 1042 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Women and Infants Development Foundation, Roger J. Ferland, M.D. Operating Room Fund, 101 Dudley St., Providence in memory of Arline Ferland.
