Antonio Pires Jr.
PAWTUCKET - Antonio Pires Jr., 68, of Owen Ave. passed away on Friday in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Messier) Lavallee-Pires and the late Esperanza "Hope" (Ramonett) Pires.
Born in Central Falls he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Neves) Pires Sr. He resided in Pawtucket for the past 40 years.
He was a sprinkler fitter for 35 years employed out of Sprinkler Fitters Local 676, Hartford retiring in 2002.
Mr. Pires was a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Garfield Social Club, Central Falls.
Besides his wife he leaves three children, Antonio Pires III of Cumberland; Albert J. Pires of Coventry; Sabrina Pires of Boston. Three step children, Denise Croke of Rehoboth; Leo Lavallee Jr. of North Kingstown; Annette Dumont of Pawtucket. Four siblings, Armand Pires of Johnston; Susanne Cournoyer of Cumberland, David Pires and Anna Brousseau both of Central Falls. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life with military honors will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, Chatham St., Providence. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
