Antonio Gaspar Lopes
CUMBERLAND- Antonio Gaspar Lopes, age 50, of High Street, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 in the Home and Hospice Care of RI Inpatient Unit, Providence. He was the husband of Ana (Figueiredo) Lopes, and they had been married for 31 years.
Born in Serta, Portugal, he was the son of the late Amaro and Maria de Lurdes (Gaspar) Lopes. He came to this country in 1979, settling in Cumberland.
Mr. Lopes was the owner of Fonseca Construction Company for ten years, and previously the owner of the New England Caf for five years.
Antonio was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He loved fishing, soccer and spending time with family.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Tanya Lopes and Monica Lopes, both of Cumberland, two sisters, Laurentina Lopes of Portugal and Isabel Kinnes of Cumberland; four brothers, Diamantino Lopes, Ramiro Lopes and Fernando Lopes, all of Cumberland, and Victor Lopes of Central Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Paulo Lopes.
A celebration of his life will be held WEDNESDAY at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held TUESDAY from 4 to 8 PM.
