CUMBERLAND - Alice Santos, 96, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday at The Highlander, Fall River. She was the wife of the late Constantino "Slugger" Santos, former Deputy Chief of the Cumberland Police Department.
Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Rosa (Travers) Estrella.
Mrs. Santos was employed as a factory worker for the Attleboro Dye Company for many years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of the St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. She was a charter member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Community Chorus.
She leaves her daughter, Cynthia Morrison of South Attleboro, MA son, Charles Santos of Tiverton; two grandchildren, Rebecca Santos of Somerville, MA and Justin Morrison of Pawtucket, one great-grandchild, Dante Santos, and several nieces and newphews. He was the grandmotherof the late Daniel Santos, and sister of the late Manuel Estrella, Alfred Estrella, Charles Estrella, Emma Estrella and Elsie Mello.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM at St. Patrick Church, Broad Street, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday 5-7 PM.
