EAST PROVIDENCE - Agostinho DeMello, 81 died Thursday at Orchard View Manor in East Providence. He was the husband of the late Maria (Fransica) DaSilva. Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of Joseph and Cordalina (Machado) DeMello. Agostinho came to the United States 44 years ago and settled in Pawtucket.
After his retirement in1992 Agostinho worked in Maintenance at M&F Case in Pawtucket.
He is survived by three daughters, Lucy Almeida of Virginia, Fatima Petronelli of Foster and Cyndi Anter of Pawtucket; three brothers, Carlos Melo of Central Falls, Joao DeMelo of Cumberland and Lewis DeMelo of Pawtucket; two sisters, Maria Tome of Vancouver and Irene Arruda of Pawtucket; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grand- children.
Agostinho was also the brother of the late Manuel Mello, Jamie Melo, Joseph Melo, Serafin Mello, Olidia Moniz and Norbina Perreira.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at the LACHAPELLE FUNERAL HOME, 643 Main Street, Pawtucket. Agostinhos life will be celebrated with calling hours on Monday from 5:00 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
