The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the first, then bludgeoned the Avengers for nine more in the second to coast to a 19-1 “mercy-rule” triumph at Slater Park’s Bailey Field.

Thursday night in Texas, the 22-year-old Rodriguez will make his big-league debut against the Rangers, who entering Wednesday had scored the fourth-most runs in the American League (210).

May 25, 2015

PAWTUCKET – In order to enjoy a homecoming befitting a native son, Mason Williams had to demonstrate to the Yankees that he was worthy of a promotion to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Thanks to strong numbers in Double-A Trenton, coupled with an injury to Jacoby Ellsbury that set off an organizational chain reaction, Williams found himself promoted to Scranton last Thursday, filling the void created for the RailRiders when Slade Heathcott was assigned to the major league club.
