Providence College basketball | PLENTY IN RESERVE: Friars’ Harris has taken to coming off the bench

January 22, 2015

PROVIDENCE – The warranty on Tyler Harris’ coming-off-the-bench experiment has officially expired.

Since the probability of the Providence College redshirt junior serving as a reserve for a ninth straight game against Xavier Thursday night is high, the time has officially come to dub Harris as the team’s super sub. When Ed Cooley made the decision to remove Harris from the starting five a month ago – Dec. 20 vs. UMass to be exact – the coach explained the move as a prime chance to bolster the Friars’ firepower off the bench.

January 14, 2015

PAWTUCKET – In their first year running Tolman High’s wrestling program, head coach Jason Rushton and assistant Matt Medina are instilling an aggressive approach that may bring dividends by tournament time, assuming the wrestlers keep working hard.

The Tigers showed flashes of skill during a 40-36 loss to Ponaganset on Tuesday evening at the Donaldson Gym. Ponaganset, now 4-1 on the season, jumped out to a 40-9 lead before the Tigers won the final five matches (two by forfeit).
