Clippers take pride in aiding breast cancer awareness

CUMBERLAND -- Cumberland High head coach John Jasionowski admitted being both surprised and impressed when a representative of the American Cancer Society attended a state interscholastic tennis meeting last spring.
“She asked us if we wanted to have some kind of event for cancer awareness, and I thought it was a good idea,” Jasionowski stated while his Clippers warmed up for a Division II crossover match against Classical on Tuesday afternoon.

CUMBERLAND — The dual meet portion of the cross-country season is safely in the books. The early-in-the-week gatherings involving schools squaring off against their regional rivals has given way to a postseason gamut that is far more demanding and extensive due to the field expanding.
To Trevor Crawley, shifting from the sport’s unofficial “warm-up act” to a series of defined gatherings of harriers is not akin to a mystery wrapped in an enigma. To date, everything the Cumberland High senior has done on the trails has been geared toward what lies ahead, albeit with a slight twist.

Instead, head coach Pierre Ridore and his Raiders had to settle for a 2-2 stalemate against a squad that before it took to the pitch had sat in first place by a mere point over second-place Barrington.
