Jennie A. Bourgette, 89,of Cumberland, died Thursday at Landmark Medical Ctr. Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Alfred E. Fred Bourgette. Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose (DAgostino) Prete.
She is survived by her son Alan and his wife Darleen Bourgette of Cumberland and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Anthony, Eugene, Andrew and Ernest Prete, Eleanor Kolenich, Caroline Harpin and Antoinette Feuti.

PAWTUCKET - Darlene "Doll" M. (Roy) Brady, 34, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 2, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of Edward Ted V. and Donna M. (Comey) Roy. Doll was a 2009 graduate of CCRI School of Nursing, and was a Registered Nurse at Riverview Healthcare Community, Coventry.
Besides her parents, she leaves three children, Chelsea M., Michael P. and Mikayla J. Brady all of Pawtucket; a sister, Sandra L. Roy of Phoenix, Arizona and many aunts and uncles.

PAWTUCKET – Irene Granurzsewiez 92, formerly of Hunts Avenue passed away Thursday Nov. 3, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick T. Granurzsewiez.
Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Lawrence "HENRY" and Katarzyna (Ozog) Rafalski. She was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring she was employed by the former Vista Manufacturing Co. as a Seamstress. She was an avid Harmonica Player from the age of 16.

N. ATTLEBORO - Stanley Matthew Podsiadlo, 85, of Richards Avenue, North Attleboro, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Paradis) Podsiadlo to whom he was married on July 4, 1953.
Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island on December 13, 1925, he was a son of the late Samuel and Katarzyna (Dziok) Podsiadlo. Raised and educated in Central Falls, Rhode Island, Mr. Podsiadlo resided in North Attleboro since his marriage 58 years ago.

Tolman swats Tiverton in preliminaries

PAWTUCKET – Tolman High took care of business in the preliminary round of the Division II playoffs on Thursday night, rolling to a 3-1 victory over Tiverton.
The sixth-seeded Tigers advance to Monday’s 6:30 p.m. quarterfinal round matchup at Cumberland. The Clippers, who ruled Division II-North with a 12-2 record, are seeded No. 3 overall in the tournament, behind top seed Exeter/West Greenwich (14-0) and second seed Bay View (13-1).

Barros stars as Shea tops Portsmouth

PAWTUCKET — Emerson Barros, who had netted only one goal in his first two seasons of playoff action for Shea High, scored four times on Thursday as the Raiders sped past Portsmouth 5-2 in a Division I quarterfinal round match.
“The one person we knew we had to mark, we didn’t mark,” Portsmouth coach Mike Stinton said after the match ended. “Their speed is the one thing we couldn’t match up with today.”

Chafee: Reform has 'momentum'

Born in Gummersbach, Germany, a daughter of the late Kurt and Liddi (Blohm) Hertneck, she had lived in Lincoln since 1960.
Mrs. Johnson was a teacher at LaSalle Academy, Providence, and a member of Lime Rock Baptist Church, Lincoln.

Born in Pawtucket he was the son of Raymond Jette of Central Falls and the late Estelle(Bourgette) Jette. He resided in Pascoag for the past 24 years, previously residing in Providence.

GOLD CANYON, AZ.: Rita Joan Kelly (88) passed away on Monday October 31th in Mesa, Az. Born in Providence, RI, she resided in Pawtucket for over 40 years, and 12 years in Cumberland. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis H. Kelley and daughter Catherine F. Randall.
Rita had lived with her daughter Maureen and son-in-law, Charles Paul in Gold Canyon, Az. since 2008.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen, four grandchildren, Christopher Contois, Heidi Boulay, Brian Randall and Alan Randall, and two great-grand children.

SRA gridders battle for playoff berth on Saturday

A not-so-funny thing happened to St. Raphael and Ponaganset on their way to sewing up the Division II-B’s final two playoff spots.
The Saints and Chieftains, who were each just one victory away from clinching berths last weekend and taking on two teams with paper-thin hopes of reaching the playoffs, were instead the victims of two mild upset losses.
Last Friday night, the Chieftains (3-3), who were visiting a Pilgrim team (3-3) that got socked in its three losses to Tolman, West Warwick, and SRA, found themselves dropping a 26-12 verdict.

Soccer playoffs begin today

The R.I. Interscholastic League boys soccer playoffs get under way this afternoon with a Division I quarterfinal matching visiting Portsmouth and Shea High at the McKinnon/Alves Complex in Pawtucket.
The game pits two rivals from the hard-fought East, which Shea won with a final record of 11-3-4. Portsmouth, which defeated Shea once and tied the Raiders in their other meeting, took third place in the East with a 10-5-3 record.
The Division II tournament kicks off on Friday with North runnerup Tolman (13-1-2) hosting Middletown (11-4-1 in the South) at 6 p.m. at McKinnon/Alves.

Couple survives high carbon monoxide levels

LINCOLN — Normand and Evelyn Olean sat at their dining room table conversing and laughing with Lime Rock Fire Chief Frank Sylvester early Wednesday afternoon.
Just 28 hours before, the senior couple and the chief spent time together for a vastly different reason; Sylvester maintains the Oleans, who have been married 56 years, are lucky to be alive after massive levels of carbon monoxide were discovered inside their Sherman Avenue home Tuesday morning.

PAWTUCKET - John F. "Sam" Babiarz, 92 a lifelong resident of Pawtucket died Saturday at the Pawtucket Health Center. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Wollen) Babiarz and the son of the late John and Ann (Keilbasa) Babiarz.
Mr. Babiarz was a Machinist for the Leesona Corp and Brown & Sharp retiring in 1981. Sam was a Eucharist Minister for the former Sacred Heart Church for over 30 years. He held membership in the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and traveling with the Royal Travelers.

The little girl exhibited a huge, lasting smile when her pre-kindergarten teacher's assistant, Cindy Flaxington, hoisted her out of her wheelchair and carried her over to meet “Little Joe” – a half-Clydesdale, half-Percheron who stands 18 hands tall (six feet) and weighs 1,800 pounds – stationed outside Lonsdale Elementary School early Monday afternoon.

Officials: Pension bill is lacking

PAWTUCKET—Mayor Donald Grebien is all for pension reform — he's spearheaded some big proposed changes for the city's public safety employees — but he thinks the plan presented by state General Treasurer Gina Raimondo and Governor Lincoln Chafee does not do enough to help the locally-funded pensions plans like Pawtucket has.
