Leatrice S. Morrison
PAWTUCKET - Leatrice S. (Green) Morrison, 91, formerly of Chandler Avenue died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Heritage Hills Nursing Center, Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John F. Morrison.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Beatrice S. (Smith) Green and she summered in Matunuck for many years.
Mrs. Morrison was an office worker for the former Almacs Grocery Stores for 20 years before retiring.
PAWTUCKET - Loretta Monteiro, 64, of Beechwood Street, passed away on Friday after an illness. She was the wife of the late Sgt. John M. Monteiro. She was born in Central Falls a daughter of the late Albert and Loretta (Martin) Victoria and lived most of her life in Pawtucket. Loretta had been employed for many years as a dispatcher for the Pawtucket Police Department.
She is survived by 2 sons, Christopher Monteiro of Cranston and Michael Monteiro of Pawtucket, a sister Linda Valcourt of Cumberland and a brother Michael Bibby of Pawtucket, nieces and nephews.
PAWTUCKET – Officially, city leaders are on standby in regards to the potential sale of the Pawtucket Red Sox to the Boston Red Sox.
PAWTUCKET – These are good times for the Tolman High basketball program. The Tigers went 13-5 last season and qualified for the state open tournament. They return most of the key players from that squad and have enhanced this year’s team with a couple of useful new parts.
Coach Mike Kayata’s team is 3-0 so far, winning by an average of 18 points per game. The Tigers were tested on Friday night by a solid North Smithfield team that they eventually wore down on their way to a 91-66 victory.
PAWTUCKET â€“ A local man described to be in his late 50s died after a fire broke out in the kitchen of his 31 Grove St. apartment on Sunday afternoon.
Michael J. Sweeney, chief of investigations for the R.I. Fire Marshalâ€™s Office, said at the scene Sunday that Pawtucket Fire Department companies conducting a fire suppression effort in the first-floor apartment shortly before 2 p.m. encountered the victim in a nearby bedroom.
The man was not breathing and not responsive to efforts to resuscitate him, Sweeney said.

LINCOLN – Friday night marked the homecoming of Davies Tech senior tri-captain/forward Waleska Kelly, and she sure made the most of it.
Kelly, who had suffered a stroke while playing in a summer high school basketball league in July of 2013, had been granted a waiver by Rhode Island Interscholastic League officials to play a fifth year, and admitted being excited about returning to compete.
Willard L. Menconi
ST. CLOUD, FL. - Willard "Will" Lewis Menconi (83 years) of St Cloud, Florida died peacefully in his home on December 10, 2014. He was born on December 3, 1931 in Central Falls, Rhode Island to William Lee Menconi and Leona Le Beau Menconi. Will's brother, 2Lt Lee William Menconi, US Army, sacrificed his life during the VietNam War. Will served in the Korean War with the US Army for two years.
Will is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Jenkins, daughter; Jeanette Girdner and her husband Troy, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
PAWTUCKET â€“ The Pawtucket Red Sox organization hit a home run for the community and The Times' annual Merry Christmas Fund, donating $1,000 to benefit the efforts of The Salvation Army of Pawtucket this holiday season.

PAWTUCKET â€“ A local 18-year-old and a juvenile male were charged in connection with a robbery on John Street Tuesday afternoon, in which they allegedly brandished a weapon resembling a shotgun and stole a video game system from a victim's car, authorities said.

PAWTUCKET - Candace M. DiIorio, 34, passed unexpectedly on December 14th. She was the wife of Tobey Malmberg.
Candace was the daughter of John and Pamela S. (Custer) DiIorio of Central Falls.
She is also survived by her children, Tiffany, Jordan, Alexis and Joshua Malmberg, a brother, Adam DiIorio, two sisters Jessica and Stephanie DiIorio.

Georgette T. Mitchell
ATTLEBORO - Georgette T. Mitchell, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Golden Living Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Ovila Mitchell. Georgette was born in Central Falls, the daughter of the late Charles and Lena (Doucette) Perry. She was a lace winder for local textile manufacturers in Pawtucket until her retirement.
She was a Gold Star Mother of the V. F. W. and a former treasurer of the Birchwood Village Mobile Home Park Association, Attleboro.
Gary R. Graham
PAWTUCKET - Gary R. Graham, 80, of Pawtucket died Thursday, December 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jean (Bisset) Graham. Born in Dayton, KY, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Trester) Graham, he had lived in Pawtucket for the past 55 years.
Mr. Graham was a supply clerk at Amica Insurance Company, Lincoln for 18 years retiring in 1996.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran during peacetime.
He was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, Cumberland and Mount Moriah Lodge #8, F. & A.M., Lincoln.

CUMBERLAND - Claire M. Belisle, 91, of Cumberland, died Tuesday at Mt. St. Rita Health Centre. She was the wife of the late Henry E. Belisle who died in August. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Domina and Theophita (Therrien) Dupre.

PAWTUCKET - Maria de Jesus Cortes, 97 of Gill Street passed away Tuesday in the Pawtucket Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pawtucket. She was the beloved wife of the late Gaspar Cortes daSilva.
Born in Celorico da Beira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Virginia (Elias) daCruz. She resided in Pawtucket for the past 3 years previously residing in Portugal for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.
PAWTUCKET - Benedict Wrzesniak, 71, of Parkview Drive passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at hisresidence. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Ise)
Born in Frankfurt, Germany he was a son of of the late Benedykt and Weronika (Czalik) Wrzesniak. He lived in Pawtucket for the past 20 years and was formerly of Cumberland.
Before retiring he owned and operated toe former Cumberland Pub for many years.
CUMBERLAND - Arthur Bernardo, 80, of Rhode Island Ave., passed away Tuesday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda (Brito) Bernardo. They had been married for the past 57 years.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Francisco and Felisbela (Duarte) Bernardo. He was a lifelong Cumberland resident.

PAWTUCKET - Joseph M. Fournier, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Doris E. (Fontaine) Fournier for sixty-six years. Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Raoul and Laura (Riendeau) Fournier, he resided in Pawtucket most of his life.
