Cumberland girls duel Barrington to scoreless tie

CUMBERLAND — The same ol’ affliction keeps raring it’s ugly head for Cumberland High.
That’s why head coach Anthony Silva promised moments after a 0-0 Division I stalemate with Barrington on the Tucker Field Annex turf on Tuesday afternoon that his primary focus at today’s practice session would be creating more offense.
“I thought we played well overall,” he sighed following the bittersweet tie, one that left the Clippers at 1-2-1 overall and in league action. “We’ve been lacking offense, and – sometimes – that’s just the way the game of soccer goes.

Red Sox honor Cumberland soldier

BOSTON – The Boston Red Sox’ “Hats off to Heroes Program” honored Technical Sergeant Joshua Lemois during Sunday night’s contest at Fenway Park against the New York Yankees. The ceremony took place at the end of the fourth inning.

TSgt Lemois is a member of the United States Air Force where he has served for the last 13 years. A Cumberland native, TSgt Lemois served in Saudi Arabia and volunteered for deployment in Afghanistan during his second tour of duty.
