Going elsewhere: Clippers will meet Saints on Saturday night at Max Read Field

October 4, 2013

CUMBERLAND – Saturday night’s Division II-B football contest between Cumberland and St. Raphael is still scheduled to kick off at 7 o’clock.

The location, however, has changed.

Thanks to Friday’s rainstorm shutting down operations on the track surface at Tucker Field, Cumberland officials found themselves in a precarious position, that of scrambling to find a last-minute venue that would still allow the game to take place on its rescheduled night. Their wishes didn’t go unanswered for long, as Pawtucket’s Max Read Field will now serve as the Clippers’ “home field” against the Saints.

Fernandes leads Shea to 5-0 blowout of Central

October 4, 2013

PROVIDENCE – Shea High veteran mentor Pierre Ridore explained how irritated he had been back on Tuesday afternoon after his squad, playing with little emotion or care, had surrendered a 1-0 defeat to struggling Central Falls.
“It was our first loss to Central Falls dating back to 2003; it was our Blackstone Valley Invitational (Tournament) game,” he stated. “We hadn't lost to them in over a decade, and I told the kids that it shouldn't have happened, that they were playing too lazy.”
