LINCOLN — Golf couldn’t have gone any better for Jamison Randall last summer.
During a magnificent, two-month stretch on the links, the Cumberland High senior captured three tournaments, winning the World Series of Junior Golf at Triggs G.C., the Rhode Island Golfers Association (RIGA) Junior Championships and the New England Junior Championships, taking that prestigious tourney in sudden death.
CUMBERLAND — Stranding runners on base has been a sore subject with Cumberland High this month, but on Monday afternoon, the Clippers were able to deliver some timely hits in their Division I crossover battle with East Providence High at Tucker Field.
Rebecca Geddes, Samantha Bertherman, and Bridget Connors each drove in a run during a four-run uprising in the home half of the fourth inning, and that rally, parlayed with the dominant one-hit pitching of senior ace Bethany Paul, helped the hosts grab a 4-1 victory.
PAWTUCKET — Johnston High showed Tolman why it is undefeated in Division II action on Monday.
The Panthers improved to 8-0 with a 5-0 victory over Tolman in a well-played game that took less than two hours to complete at McCoy Stadium. Righthander Gian Bianchi scattered eight hits over six innings to pick up the win. Tolman starter Andrew Larson went the distance, scattering 13 hits and getting some fine defense from his infielders and outfielders.
