SRA to face PCD in Lynch finals

PAWTUCKET — Defending state champion St. Raphael Academy toyed with Central Falls in the opening game of the Dennis M. Lynch Memorial Tournament on Thursday night, rolling to a 72-38 victory as the Saints’ 1-2 punch of Cesar Mejia (22 points) and Charles Correa (16 points) equaled the Warriors’ final scoring total all by themselves.
“We have a lot of kinks to work out,” SRA coach Tom Sorrentine admitted after the game ended. “But we do have our 1-2 punch back. Davon Robertson is our third returning starter. We have to fill in the other spots.”

Tolman, Shea to meet in Donaldson finals

PAWTUCKET — It will be Tolman and Shea battling for the Donaldson Memorial Tournament championship on Saturday night.
The host Tigers got 35 points from junior guard Juan Velez en route to a 77-51 romp over East Greenwich in the nightcap on Thursday evening.
Shea had earlier posted a 58-50 victory over Toll Gate. Jordy Brito led the Raiders with 22 points, five assists and five steals.
Shea had to battle all night against a tough opponent. The Raiders led 22-20 at halftime and held off the Titans with a strong defensive effort.
