Dorothy M. Tondreau
PAWTUCKET - Dorothy M. "Dot" Tondreau, 88, peacefully departed this world in her sleep Thursday, July 21, 2011.
A classically trained painter, Dorothy, known to family and friends as "Dot" or "Dottie," excelled in both watercolor and oil painting. In addition to her talent in painting, she was also a skilled and enthusiastic art teacher to family, several of her nieces and nephews having gone on to become successful artists themselves. With an amusing anecdote for nearly every situation, Dot leaves everyone she knew with an abundance of fond memories.
Josephine C. Tetreault
PAWTUCKET - Josephine C. Tetreault 95, of Ballston Avenue passed away Thursday July 21, 2011 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Tetreault.
Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Martin and Agnes (Lesniak) Czech. She lived in Pawtucket for the past 35 years.
She was a Volunteer at the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital for over 30 years.
WOONSOCKET - Florence (Large) Savage, 100, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Oakland Grove Health Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late George Savage.
Born in Cumberland, a daughter of the late Nathan and Jane A. (White) Large, she had lived in Cumberland all of her life before moving to Woonsocket 12 years ago.
Norma R. Markarian
CUMBERLAND - Norma R. (Robertson) Markarian, 68, of Dexter St. Cumberland, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 18, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Briggs) Robertson. She was the Founder of Bibs Plus and Dolls Boutique. She was employed by Health-Tex for many years and a CNA at Mt. St. Rita Health Center. She was the Proud Founder of Valley Chapel and was a member of Queen Esther Chapter No. 2, O.E.S.
Leo E. Legare 1932 - 2011
MONCTON, NB - Leo Legare, of Moncton, NB passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 16th, 2011 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Central Falls R.I. he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Giroux) Legare. Leo worked for many years as an Assembler at Wardwell Braid.
Leo will be sadly missed by Loving wife of 58 years Claire (Fournier); sister-in-law Aline Crawford; two nephews Dennis and David Murphy; one great niece Klaudia Rogers and by several cousins. By personal request there will be no visitation or funeral service.
PAWTUCKET - Denise Green, 62, former Providence head start teacher, of School Street, Pawtucket, died Saturday at Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of the late Douglas LaFrance Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, daughter of the late John and Ann (Ousley) McParlin.
She is survived by daughters Eulanda and Evelyn LaFrance, sisters, Nancy, Sandra, Cheryl and Diane McParlin, God-daughter, Gina Kearns, and 8 grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Richard Allen Gibson and sister to the late John McParlin III.
Elza M. Marques
JOHNSTON - Elza M. (Machado) Marques, 84, of Old Pocasset Lane, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. She was the wife of the late Francisco Marques.
She was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a daughter of the late Amadeu B. and Maria (da Conceicao) Machado.
Beatrice I. Benoit
CUMBERLAND - Beatrice I. Benoit, 90, of Cumberland, died Monday at St. Antoine Residence, N. Smithfield. She was the wife of Maurice Benoit. They had been married 72 years.
Joseph L. Smith
CUMBERLAND - Joseph L. Smith, 88, of Ronald Ave. died Sunday in the Mt. St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Brannigan) Smith.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Fred and Emma (Brown) Smith. He was a lifelong Cumberland resident.
Mr. Smith was a 20 year U. S. Air Force retiree serving during WW II; he had also served during the Korean Conflict retiring as a Master Sergeant. After retirement from the Air Force Mr. Smith began a 20 plus year service with the Cumberland Water Department retiring in 1988.
CUMBERLAND - Arnold Sousa, 86 of Hilltop Road, passed away Sunday in the Grandview Center, Cumberland. He was the loving husband of Esmeralda (Gonzalez) Sousa.
Born in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland, he was the son of the late Cypriano and Theresa (Gomes) Sousa. He was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Mr. Sousa was a Life Underwriter for the Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co., retiring 1983. He owned the former Arnolds Market in Central Falls and also worked for four years at the former Owens-Corning Firberglass.
He was a WW II US Navy Veteran.
Yvette M. Andreoni
EAST PROVIDENCE - Yvette M. Andreoni, 86, of East Providence, died Tuesday. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Camille and Marie (Delisle) Gatard.
She had been employed as a photographic retoucher prior to her retirement.
Her son John Mark Andreoni of Lincoln, her daughters, Laurie Andreoni Wilson of CA and Lisa Gefklin of CA, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren survive her. She was the sister of the late Jackie Mullen. Her funeral and burial will be private. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Guestbook at
Margaret J. Scuturio
Margaret J. Scuturio, of Washington Street, Central Falls died July 15, 2011. she was the wife of the late Richard Scuturio.
Mrs. Scuturio was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Murdock M. and Bella M. (Couper) Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Florence Russell and Sarah Gauthier of Pawtucket and her sons Richard W. Scuturio of Pawtucket and Daniel Smith of Massachusetts.
James L. Kennedy
CENTRAL FALLS - James L. Kennedy, "Jimmy" 80, passed July 15th; He was the husband of Jean (Elliott) Kennedy.
Jimmy was the son of the late George and Bertha (Hyatt) Kennedy.
He had been employed by Electric Boat of Quonset for many years.
Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Pita and Lynn Robin, a son Kevin Kennedy, two sisters, Rosalie Raymond and Noreen Davignon and 8 grandchildren, he was the brother of the late Anita Silvaggio.
SEEKONK - Hilda (Craveiro) Levesque, 84 of Taunton Avenue died Friday, July 15, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late Herbert K. Levesque.
She was born in
Providence a daughter of the late Manuel D. and Maria R. (Mello) Craveiro. She was a lifelong Seekonk resident.
Francis Rogers Jr.
JOHNSTON - Francis (Buddy) Rogers Jr. passed away on July 7th. He is survived by brother John Rogers and sister Tina Rogers, His five children Lynne Rogers Labonte, Alec, Linda & Kimberly Rogers Gorman & Francis Rogers the 3rd. 10 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter. May he rest in peace.

ATTLEBORO - Claire J. (Galarneau) Jeffrey, 75, former business owner, downtown business advocate and tireless volunteer, of Kendall Avenue, Attleboro, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare of Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert D. Jeffrey to whom she was married on September 26, 1958 and who died on January 28, 2003.
WARWICK - Dolores (Cotnoir) Quinn 100 years young, passed away peacefully at her home on Melbourn Rd., Warwick on July 12 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Ann (Paradis) Cotnoir. Del was the devoted wife of the late John F. Quinn, former Pawtucket mayor (1933-37).
Joao F. Pires
PROVIDENCE: Joao F. (John) Pires was born November 8, 1976 in the Republic of Cape Verde. At the age of 8, John and his family immigrated to the U.S where he resided in Brockton, MA for 11 years. At the age of 19 John joined the US Army where he served honorably for 4 years. Upon his return from service, John moved to Rhode Island where he met and married Andrea Fontes. Andrea and John had twin sons. John was a resident of Providence, RI.

PAWTUCKET - Richard J. Martel, 56 of Pawtucket died at home on Friday (July 8). Born in Pawtucket, a son of Dorothy C. (Breault) Martel and of the late Joseph R. Martel, he had been a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to retirement about twelve years ago, he had been employed at the Metallon Company.
