Norman R. DeBlois
ATTLEBORO - Norman Raymond DeBlois of Davis Street passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital at age 83.
He was the beloved husband of Rose (Godin) DeBlois for nearly 50 years.
Born January 3, 1931 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Paquette) DeBlois.
Norman grew up in North Attleboro and was a 1953 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He moved to Plainville in 1964 where he resided until moving to Attleboro in 1978.
Norman attended both the Rhode Island School of Design and Dean Junior College.
PAWTUCKET - Samuel Sabbagh, 87, of Pawtucket, retired Electrical Contractor, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Haddad) Sabbagh. They were happily married for 64 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Farrah) Sabbagh.
James J. Morin
EAST PROVIDENCE - James J. Morin, born on May 20, 1936 passed away on March 6, 2014.
Jim worked as a driller/blaster, was in the Marines and also for his dear friends Frank and Laura for many years.
Jim is survived by his brother Donald, first cousins Ruth and Therese, his children Rick, Tori, Mike, Joe, and Gary, grandchildren Mike, Joe, Chrissy, Stefanie, and Jessica, Great grandchildren Alexis and Joseph James Morin and Christopher Michael. He leaves many friends in East Providence, RI, and his former wife Gail G. Hunt, who brought us all together. Thanks, mom!
George F. Smith
ATTLEBORO - George F. Smith, 80, of Attleboro passed away on March 14, 2014 in Life Care Center of Attleboro. He was the loving husband of Elinor (Dollard) Smith for 50 years.
Born December 30, 1933, in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Hugh and Catherine Smith.
George resided most of his life in the Attleboro area. He was employed at Texnor Apex Co. in Pawtucket for many years before his retirement. He loved line dancing, woodworking and made beautiful doll houses.
Paul C. O'Neill
PAWTUCKET - Paul C. O'Neill, 78, of Pawtucket, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Dolores (Cote) O'Neill. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Crane) O'Neill.
Paul worked in the automotive industry for many years. He later worked for the Pawtucket School Department, retiring in 1996. He then worked in the O'Neill family funeral business for the last 17 years.
Deborah J. Baier, R.N.
PAWTUCKET - Deborah "Debbie" Jane (Sladen) Baier, R.N., 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, March 16, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Claus Baier for 33 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Thomas "Leo" L. Jr. and Jane (Rowse) Sladen of Pawtucket. Debbie was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island School of Nursing.
James J. Folan
PAWTUCKET - James J. Folan, Sergeant Pawtucket Police Department, retired, died on March 15, 2014. He was the loving husband of Catherine E. (Gibbons) Folan. They had been married 67 years.
Anne C. Penza
PAWTUCKET - Anne "Dolly" C. (Romano) Penza, 90, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Silvio S. Penza for 61 years. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Vito and Camella (Facienda) Romano, she resided in Pawtucket most of her life before moving to Vero Beach, Florida in November of 2006. She was a 1942 graduate of Pawtucket West High School.
David J. Flanagan
PAWTUCKET - David J. Flanagan, of Pawtucket, died on March 12, 2014.
Mr. Flanagan was born in Pawtucket the son of the late David J. Flanagan and Margaret (Marran) Flanagan.
He was employed at Teknor Apex in Pawtucket
David was a graduate of Rhode Island College where he excelled as a left handed pitcher on the baseball team. He was a member of the Rhode Island College Hall of Fame. David also played for the Chatham Anglers and Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Roger Stanley Provencher
QUINCY- Roger Stanley Provencher age 57 of Quincy Mass., formerly of Pawtucket and Central Falls, RI, died Tuesday, March 11 at Quincy Medical Center.
Son of Rita Jette and the late Raymond Provencher, stepson of Rene Jette.
Longtime companion of Alma Manning, father of Jennifer Lee and her husband Eric Lee, brother of Jacquline Pelletier, Anita Hermann, Leo Provencher and his wife Debra Jean, he was also the brother of the late Robert Provencher, grandfather of Jacen Lee and many nieces and nephews.
The services will be private.
CRANSTON- Baziotis, Eleftherios "Lefty"" Baziotis, 79 of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully Friday morning March 14, 2014 at home.
He was the husband of Irene (Petras) Baziotis, and the late Chrysanthe (Pliakas) Baziotis.
CENTRAL FALLS- Rose Messier was born in Central Falls, RI on July 13, 1927 to the late Alphee "Leo" Bonin and Clara (Nolin) Bonin.
Lucille D. Goyette
LINCOLN- Miss Lucille D. Goyette, 96, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Trinity Health and Rehab Center, Woonsocket.
Lucille was born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Dominique and Maria (Tanguay).
She lived in Pawtucket, moved to Cumberland in 1984 and then to Lincoln nearly 25 years ago. She worked in the textile industry for many years and retired in 1984.
Joseph R. Shaw
ATTLEBORO- Joseph R. Shaw, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Laurette (LaChance) Shaw.
Born in Taunton, MA, a son of the late Joseph and Vera (Ellingham) Shaw.
Joseph was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as a driver and salesman for Dottie's Catering, Pawtucket, for over 32 years until his retirement in 1990.
COVENTRY- PONDER, LORRAINE J. (LEMIEUX) LPN, age 59, of Mead St., Coventry, passed away at Kent Hospital while surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. She was the wife of Daniel N. Ponder for 32 years.
Born in Central Falls, RI, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Claire (Berard) Lemieux.
Lorraine was employed at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse for 35 years before retiring in 2012 due to illness. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and caring for others.
James W. Moroney, Sr.
NORTH PROVIDENCE - James W. Moroney, Sr., 76, of Smithfield Road, died Wednesday, March 12, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of the late Caren (O'Brien) Moroney.
Born in Providence, a son of the late James and Gladys (Erickson) Moroney, he had lived in Pawtucket and Riverside for many years before moving to North Providence last year.
Mr. Moroney was a Park Attendant for the City of Pawtucket Parks & Recreation Department, before retiring in 2003. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean War.
PAWTUCKET- Irene (Laurinda) Furtado, 83, of Meadow St., Pawtucket, RI died on Tuesday, March 11th at the Miriam Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jose Jacinto Furtado.
Irene was born in Castro Verde, Alentejo, Portugal, a daughter of the late Manuel Laurinda and Mariana Barbara Martins Laurinda.
Mrs. Furtado arrived in Rhode Island in 1963 with her husband. She worked as a laborer in many textile factories, lastly employed by Greenhalgh Mills in Pawtucket. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was a devout parishioner of St. Teresa's Church.
Mary H. O'Hara
CUMBERLAND- Mary H. O'Hara, 73, of 1 Mendon Rd., passed away Monday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence.
Born in the Bronx, NY she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Daly) Boyle. She resided in Cumberland for the past 40 years having previously lived in Connecticut.
She was a C.N.A. employed by the Oak Grove Health Care Center, Woonsocket for 5 years until her retirement. Mrs. O'Hara was also a member of the Ireland 32 Society, Pawtucket.
Blanche M. Perrault
CENTRAL FALLS- Blanche M. Perrault, 89, passed on March 11th. She was the wife of the late Claude A. Perrault.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Louis and Yvonne (Leclerc) Mercier.
