Judge Edward V. Healey, Jr.
CRANSTON - The Honorable Edward V. Healey, Jr., 88, of Cranston, Retired Senior Associate Justice of the Rhode Island Family Court died Saturday, May 21 at the Scandinavian Home, Cranston.
Judge Healey was born in Providence, the first child of the late Edward V. Sr. and Margaret (McGrath) Healey. He was the husband of the late Lillian Dolly E. (Devlin) to whom he was married for thirty-seven years until her death in 1987.
Anthony W. Abramczyk
LINCOLN- Anthony W. Abramczyk 86, of Great Road passed away Thursday May 12, 2011 at Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Shurgot) Abramczyk.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Wincenty and Emilia (Mickiewicz)Abramczyk.
Before his retirement he owned and operated the former Abramczyk's Market of Central Falls and later worked for Gorhman Corp. as a Machine Operator.
Theresa R. Rabczak
ATTLEBORO- Theresa R. Rabczak 73, of Robinson Avenue passed away Friday May 20, 2011 at her residence.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late John and Frances (Kosinski) Szumita Sr. She lived in Attleboro for the past year and was formerly of Harrisville and Cumberland.
Before retiring Theresa was employed as a Braider Tender for the Colonial Mills of Pawtucket for 20 years retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Cranshaw VFW Post ladies auxillary.
Alice B. Gagnon
FAIRFIELD, CT - Alice B. (Guimond) Gagnon, 98, of Unquowa Road, Fairfield, CT and formerly of Carter Ave., Pawtucket, RI, died Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. She was the wife of the late Irenee G. Gagnon.
Born in Grosvenordale, CT., she was a daughter of the late Amable and Lydwin Dusomble Guimond. She lived in Pawtucket until 1994 when she relocated to Fairfield, CT.
Mrs. Gagnon was a weaver for over 30 years in the Blackstone Valley textile mills. She was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church, Pawtucket, and enjoyed playing golf and cards.
Gertrude R. Griffin, 65 died Wednesday at the Philip Hulitar Impatient
Center in Providence.She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Griffin.Born in Pawtucket Gertrude was the daughter of the late Corrine (Ledoux) Swindelles.
She worked as a Behavioral Specialist at the James L. Maher Center in
Bristol until December 2010.
Gertrude is survived by a son; Joseph P. Griffin, Jr. of Foster; two
daughters, Marie Worthington of Pawtucket and Deborah Griffin of
Cranston; two brothers, Edward Swindelles and James Swindelles both of
Arthur J. Brassard
LINCOLN - Arthur J. Brassard, 93, of Lincoln, died Thursday at Summit Commons, Providence. He was the husband of Diana L. (Berard) Brassard. They had been married 71 yrs.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Remy and Eugenie (Blain) Brassard and the stepson of Ombeline (Croteau) Brassard. He was a self-employed owner of Spring Water Association and Rent All Inc. Mr. Brassard was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a Staff Sargeant with Company F 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment and a Purple Heart receipient.
Lois B. Fortin
LINCOLN - Lois B. (Vivier) Fortin, 74, of School Street, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of Gabriel Fortin. Mr. & Mrs. Fortin were to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in July.
Born in Valley Falls, a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Slater) Vivier, she had lived in the Albion section of Lincoln for the past fifty years.
Mrs. Fortin was a communicant of St. Ambrose Church, Albion.
JOHNSTON - Brian Allard, 22, of Johnston and formerly of Lincoln, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of Brian Allard and Michelle (Earnheart) Allard. Brian had lived in Lincoln before moving to Johnston in February of this year. Besides his parents, he is survived by his brother, Brett Allard USMC, his sister, Brittany Allard, his paternal grandparents, Robert and Annabell Desautel, and his maternal grandmother, Anne Finnegan. He was the grandson of the late Frank Allard Jr.
James E. Brennan
PAWTUCKET - James E. Brennan, 91, of Monroe Street died on Monday at RI Hospital. He was the former husband of Edith E. Brennan (Hey) of Warwick and Lubomira Brennan of Pawtucket.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Michael F. and Catherine (Piggott) Brennan. He was a life long resident of the city.
Alice H. Pequeno
Lincoln - Alice H. Pequeno 90 of Parker St. died Tuesday May 17, 2011. She was the widow of Benjamin Gonsalves Pequeno.
Born in Central Falls a daughter of the late John and Maria Figueira Caires.
In 1927 the family moved to Paterson, NJ until 1933, moving back to Central Falls. In 1942 she moved to Pawtucket and in 1965 to Lincoln.
She worked for thirty years in several area worsted textile mills as a winder retiring in 1972. She enjoyed traveling and visited many countries.
PAWTUCKET - Daniel Desautel, 54, passed May 14, 2011. He was the husband of the late Linda (Dourant) Desautel.
He is survived by six children, Daniel and Michael Desautel, Tammy and her husband Jeffrey, Chrissie, Sherry and Raymond Dourant, a sister, Diane Desautel, 5 brothers, Freddie, Robert, Richard, Normand and Raymond Desautel, 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marguerite P. Platt
PAWTUCKET - Marguerite P. "Maggie" (Dyer) Platt, 84, of Nancy Street died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Pawtucket Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pawtucket.
Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late William and Anna (Fisher) Dyer, she had lived in Pawtucket for over 50 years.
A member of Park Place Congregational Church, Pawtucket, Maggie served as the sexton of the Church for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was also a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry of the Church.
Rose B. Kahla
PAWTUCKET - Rose B. Kahla, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Jennie (Zammat) Kahla.
Rose was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. She was a proud member of St. Basil the Great parish since 1934 and held various positions, she also was a member of the altar sodality, the senior citizens, the prayer line, and the English choir at the church.
She is survived by her brother, George Kahla, seven nieces, four nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Koussa and Charles Kahla.
Norma L. Dingley
RUMFORD - Norma L. Dingley, 88, of Rumford Towers, Rumford died Monday, May 16, 2011. She was the wife of the late Earle R. Dingley.
Mrs. Dingley was born in Attleboro MA, the daughter of the late Chester J. and Gladys E. (Perkins) Greenwood. She graduated from the Sturdy Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a longtime member of their Alumni Association. Mrs. Dingley was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for over eleven years.
Ruth E. Dubuc
WALPOLE, MA - Ruth E. (Lawrence) Dubuc age 98 years died in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 15, 2011. Born in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont on April 24, 1913; she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah (Burchill) Lawrence. She has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 16 years moving there from Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
She worked in the business office of Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for 20 years, and after her retirement, she continued to volunteer at the hospital.
Dominick J. Dewick
PROVIDENCE - Dominick J. Dewick, 8, of Providence, died Saturday at the Tavares Pediatric Center where he resided. He was the son of Krystal (Dewick) Sullivan.
Avelino A. Lopes
PAWTUCKET - Avelino A. Lopes, 79 died on Saturday (May 14) after a brief illness. He was the husband of Lucille (Gevry) Lopes. Born in Pawtucket and a lifelong resident of the city, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Virginia (Costa) Lopes.
He was the Vice President of Vinyl Packaging and Plastic Development. During the Korean War, he served in the US Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of the Portuguese Social Club and of the Uniao Portuguesa Beneficente, both of Pawtucket. He was an avid bowler and gardener.
PAWTUCKET - Nancy O'Neill, 80, of Pawtucket, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Crane) O'Neill. She was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Nancy graduated from Bay View Academy and later from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She had worked for many years at Notre Dame Hospital as the Continuing Care Coordinator. She later worked at Memorial Hospital as the Utilization Coordinator until her retirement in 1994.
John E. Stafford
SAINT CLOUD, FL - Mr. John E. Stafford, 62, of Saint Cloud, Florida passed away on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Osceola Regional Medical Center, Kissimmee, FL. John was born in Providence, Rhode Island on April 15, 1949, the son of the late Henry J. and Marie L. (Stewart) Stafford.
John worked for Colonial Toyota in Pawtucket, R.I. for over 28 years. He also was a driving instructor for Noonan Driving School before moving to St. Cloud in 2000.
Irene P. Calhoun
PAWTUCKET - Irene P. Calhoun, 87 formerly of Pawtucket died Tuesday at the Steere House in Providence. Born in Pawtucket she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Laura (Bizier) Jubainville.
Prior to her retirement Irene worked as a Switch Board Operator at the American Heart Association.
Irene is survived by two sons; James Calhoun of California and Rory Calhoun of Pawtucket; a daughter, Tammy Calhoun of Pawtucket; a brother, Ernest Jubainville of Pawtucket and 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
