Melvin A. Goldenberg
CENTRAL FALLS - Melvin A. Goldenberg, "Mel", 70, passed Wednesday April 10th. He was the lifetime companion of the late Walter F. Laurie.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Harry and Rose Goldenberg.
He was the Co Proprietor of the former "Flowers to Remember" and had retired from the City of Central Falls. Mel was a member of the "Odd Fellows".
He was a dedicated member of Park Place Congregational Church, was the founder of their Chopstick Auction and facilitator of the Thrift Shop.
Alice M. Barbeau
PAWTUCKET - Alice M. (Froment) Barbeau, 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond G. Barbeau.
Born in Attleboro, she was a daughter of the late Oscar J. and Juliette (Groulx) Froment. Alice was a member of the PEAL Club and enjoyed cooking, sewing, shopping, traveling and bowling. Above all Alice was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Robert K. Gingras
CUMBERLAND - Robert K. Gingras, 79, of 1 Flat St., passed away Saturday in the R. I. Hospital Providence.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Edmund and Lillian (Baril) Gingras. Mr. Gingras resided in Cumberland for the past five years and had resided in Lincoln for most of his life. He was employed by the former Miller Electric Co., of Woonsocket for 40 years retiring in 1993.
He was a communicant of St. Jude Church, Lincoln and a member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Boys and Girls Club.
PAWTUCKET - Gertrude Lebeau, 90, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Leo Lebeau. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Houston) Vashey. Mrs. Lebeau was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Robert E. Gendreau
SEEKONK - Robert E. Gendreau, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Norma M. (Poirier) Gendreau for fifty-eight years. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Armand and Lucy (Lagasse) Gendreau, he resided in the Hebronville section of Attleboro before moving to Seekonk in 1969.
Rae Ann Zavota
PAWTUCKET - Rae Ann Zavota, of Annie Street, Pawtucket passed away on April 10, 2013 at her daughters home in Seekonk Ma. She was the wife of the late John F. Zavota.
Mrs. Zavota was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Raymond Boyle and Ann (Kane) Boyle. She worked in customer service for Shaws Market before retiring.
Mrs. Zavota is survived by her children, Kimberly Cordeiro and her husband Kevin of Seekonk Ma, John Zavota and his girlfriend Elizabeth Gatchell Pawtucket and Michael Zavota and his wife Megan of Pawtucket.
Ann R. Buckley
LINCOLN - Ann R. (Hunter) Buckley, 94, passed away on April 10, 2013 at Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence after an illness. She was the wife of the late Richard I. Buckley, Sr. and the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Jane (Campbell) Hunter and the stepdaughter of the late Mary (Neil) Hunter, and the sister of the late William J. Hunter.
Margaret M. French
ATTLEBORO, MA - Margaret M. French, 74, formerly of Attleboro, died Friday, March 15, 2013 in Deland, Florida. She was the wife of William French. She was a daughter of the late John S. and Dorothy M. (Poirier) Grant. She had lived in Attleboro before moving to Florida in 2008.
She had worked for Leach & Gardner before retiring in 2002.
Mildred E. Hayden
CUMBERLAND - Mildred E. Hayden, 84, passed away Tuesday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Hayden.
Born in Central Falls she was the daughter of the late George A. and Florence (Schofield) Carr. She was a life long Cumberland resident.
Mrs. Hayden was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. She was also a former volunteer for Home and Hospice Care of RI for many years.
Cecelia H. Sharkey
CENTRAL FALLS - Cecelia H. Sharkey, 84 of Central Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Sharkey. Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Lacki) Stegnicki. Cecelia was a member of the Cumberland Polish White Eagles, and the Saint Basil Seniors.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, James and Allen Sharkey, two daughters, Barbara Roberts and Jo-Ann Sharkey, one sister, Mildred Plante, and seven grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John Stegnicki.
Casey R. Conover
PAWTUCKET - Casey R. Conover, 38, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Sandra R. (Rosa) Conover for thirteen years. Born in Ithaca, NY, he was the son of Douglas E. Conover of Newfield, NY and Cheryl A. (Gillmer) Conover of Spencer, NY.
Casey had resided in Pawtucket since 1998. He was the former Chief Dialysis Technician at DCI Faulkner Hospital, Boston. Casey was a member of the Newfield Volunteer Fire Department, Newfield, NY.
Raymond J. Canning
PAWTUCKET - Raymond J. Canning passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary M. (Kearns) Canning. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Leo E. and Madeline V. (ONeill) Canning.
Ray was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a steelworker at Congdon & Carpenter, Seekonk before retiring in 1988, and was previously employed by the Washburn Wire Company, Rumford.
He leaves a son, Earl "Duke" F. Aldrich Jr.; a granddaughter, Shelly L. Vieira and a great-granddaughter, Emma May Vieira all of Pawtucket.
Arthur J. Battersby Jr.
PAWTUCKET - Arthur J. Battersby Jr., "Sonny" 77, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Smith) Battersby. They were married for 56 years.
He was the son of Arthur and Jeannette (Bechard) Battersby.
Arthur had been employed as a tool maker and machinist for many years.
Arthur was a Korean War Veteran, and served in the Army reserve for 24 years.
Frank M. Swistak
ATTLEBORO - Frank M. Swistak, 89 of Read St. Attleboro, died Sunday March 31, 2013.
He was the husband of the late Yvonne M. (Ouellette) Swistak.
Frank was born in Attleboro, a son of the late Frank & Antonina (Kogan) Swistak.
Mr. Swistak, was a jewelry polisher for Foster's Jewelry Company.
A lifelong Attleboro resident, he was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, as a Private First Class, as a Heavy Mortar Crewman, where he received the combat badge, and the Bronze Star. Mr. Swistak, was very proud of his military service.
Janusz E. Starakiewicz, MD
WARWICK - Dr. Janusz E. Starakiewicz, 50, passed away at his residence Saturday April 6, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Maria Z. (Nawrocka) Starakiewicz, MD.
Born in Poland he was a son of the late Edward and Stanislawa (Chudzo) Starakiewicz. He lived in Warwick for the past 15 years.
Dr. Starakiewicz was a Pathologist and Director of the Blood Bank at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital.
He received his Medical Degree from Jagielonian University in Krakow, Poland and served his Medical Residency at Brown University.
Arthur A. Boudreau
PAWTUCKET - Arthur A. Boudreau, 99, died peacefully on Saturday, April 6th at the Jeanne Jugan Residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Beatrice (Cadieux) Boudreau to whom he was married for 60 years until her passing.
Michelle C. Regan
ATTLEBORO - Michelle C. Regan of Attleboro died on April 4, 2013. She was the longtime loving companion of Alan Krawiec.
Michelle was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Gerard Bouley and Elmira (Gaudreau) Bouley. She was employed at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket in information services.
Besides her companion Alan Michelle is survived by her sister Theresa Mewshan of California.
Stephanie K. Zapasnik
SEEKONK Stephanie K. Zapasnik, 87, formerly of Mayfield Street passed away Thursday April 4, 2013 at a Nursing Home in Longmeadow, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late Chester Zapasnik.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Wincenty and Zofia (Misiaszek) Strybuc.
Prior to retiring from Texas Instruments as a Calibrator Stephanie was employed as a Seamstress for many years.
Helen L. Massarotti
EAST PROVIDENCE - Helen L. Massarotti, 90, passed away Friday April 5, 2013 at her residence with her loving family at her side. She was the beloved wife of Louis Massarotti.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Chester and Bertha (Mruk) Trzuskowski. She lived in Rumford for the past 60 years.
Before retiring in 1993 Helen was employed by the Hord Tool and Dye Co. of Pawtucket as an Inspector. Prior to that she was employed by the Premier Thread Co.
Helen was a member of Holy Cross Church Ladies Adoration Society and an avid Red Sox fan.
Maurice E. Tobin, Sr.
PAWTUCKET - Maurice E. Tobin, Sr., 95, formerly of Pawtucket, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth G. (Rock) Tobin.
Mr. Tobin had been employed as a teacher for the Providence School System prior to his retirement. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the former Eugene T. Lefebvre VFW Post #1271.
