Maria G. Afonso
CENTRAL FALLS- Maria G. (Gomes) Afonso, 94, of Washington St. passed away Thursday in the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland. She was the beloved wife of the late Abilio Afonso.
Born in Cov as, de Barroso, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Aflredo and Victoria ( Afonso ) Gomes. She had resided in Central Falls most of her life.
Mrs. Afonso was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
Robert W. Briggs
LINCOLN - Robert W. Briggs, 92, of Sir Charles Drive died Friday, August 31, 2012 at Emerald Bay Manor, Cumberland. He was the husband of the late Lorraine E. (Block) Briggs.
Born in Rockland, MA, a son of the late George E. and Annie M. (Wright) Briggs, he had lived in Lincoln for the past 52 years.
Mr. Briggs worked in the stock room of Blackstone Valley Electric Company, Lincoln before retiring.
He was a World War II Army veteran and a life member of VFW Post #8018.
A 32nd Degree mason, he was a member of Paul Revere Lodge, A.F. & A.M., Brockton, MA.
Antonio Alberto Cabral
VIRGINIA BEACH - Antonio Alberto Cabral, 54, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 28, 2012.
Born on August 15, 1958, in Muxagata, Fornos de Algodres, Portugal. He was the son of the late Fernando and Albertina Cabral.
Tony was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He will be forever remembered for his charismatic and dynamic presence and for his loving nature.
Doris S. Craven
SEEKONK- Doris S. (Crowther) Craven, 88, formerly of Maynard Ave., passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Craven.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Eric L. and Beatrice (Entwistle) Crowther, she resided in Seekonk most of her life.
Doris leaves two daughters, Lorel A. Paquette and her husband, Paul of Athol, MA and Mary-Jayne Foster of Foster, RI; three grandsons, Michael Paquette, Shayne Foster and Derrick Foster and a great-grandson, Matthew Paquette. She was the sister of the late Betty Priddy.
PAWTUCKET - Jeannette Marchand, 87, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2012. She was the wife of the late Oscar Marchand.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie (Bernard) Grenier. Jeannette was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
CUMBERLAND - Antonio Silva, 86, of Colonial Ave. passed away Tuesday in the Oakland Grove Nursing Center, Woonsocket. He was the beloved husband of Placedia (Brito) Silva.
Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Jaime and Maria (Campos) Silva. He resided in Cumberland most of his life.
Mr. Silva was employed as the general manager of the former Howard Johnson Motor Lodge and Restaurant, Pawtucket for 30 years until his retirement.
Charles R. Mooney
PAWTUCKET - Charles Robert Mooney, 74, of Elder Street, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 in the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Chretien) Mooney and they had been married for the past 48 years.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Alfred and Evelyn (Follows) Mooney. He resided in Pawtucket for the past 46 years.
Mr. Mooney was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.
Charles was employed as tool setter for the Fulford Manufacturing Company of East Providence for many years until his retirement.
Linda May Goyette
CUMBERLAND - Linda May Goyette, 53, of North Attleboro, formerly of Canning Street, Cumberland, passed away MONDAY at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of Robert Curran and the late Edna (Roberts) Curran. She resided in North Attleboro for the past 3 years, previously residing in Cumberland.
She was employed as laser operator for the Needletech Inc. of North Attleboro for the past three years. She was previously employed for many years at Texas Instruments.
Marilynn E. Brown
LINCOLN - Marilynn E. Brown, 67, of Lincoln, died Monday at home. She was the wife of Robert C. Brown.
Born in Mahattan NY, she came to Lincoln in 1956 and has lived in the same house her grandparents bought in the late 1800s when they immigrated from Ireland. She was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Sullivan) Downing.
Barbara M. Normandin
PAWTUCKET - Normandin, Barbara May, 83, of Roosevelt Avenue, died Monday August 27th, 2012 at Fogarty Housing in Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Ernest Normandin Sr.
Born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Woods) Quinn. Mrs. Normandin had worked as a foreman at Hasbro.
David W. Greenwood
PAWTUCKET - David W. Greenwood, 45, of Sayles Avenue, Pawtucket died August 22, 2012.
Mr. Greenwood was born in Pawtucket, the son of William M. Greenwood and Doris (Alarie) Greenwood. He was a self employed telemarketer.
Mr. Greenwood was a longtime political activist in the City of Pawtucket. He was a staunch supporter of a fair and honest government for all the citizens in and around his beloved Pawtucket. David was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and though he loved all sports the Red Sox were always his favorite team.
Eileen M. MarcAurele
Eileen M. MarcAurele, of Hughes Avenue, Pawtucket passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Gerald J. MarcAurele.
Mrs. MarcAurele was born in Cumberland, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Perry) Bannon. She was a loving homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
PAWTUCKET - Mariana Gomez, formerly of High Street, Pawtucket died August 25, 2012.
Mariana was born in East Providence, the daughter of the late Lawrendo and Matilda (Pina) Alves.
Ms. Gomez is survived by her son Ricardo Gomez of Providence, her nephew James Parker and his wife Pearl of Providence, her nieces Angelita Cartagena of Florida and Benita Sanchez of Massachusetts and several great nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Maria Alves Cartagena, Dulinda Alves Sanchez, Domingo and John Alves and the aunt of the late Laurendo Peters.
Ovila J. Pelland
CUMBERLAND - Ovila J. "Chick" Pelland, 85, of Little Pond County Road died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Neil) Pelland. Mr. and Mrs. Pelland were married for 53 years.
Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Homer and Roseanne (Bergeron) Pelland, he had lived in Cumberland for the past 23 years.
Mr. Pelland was an engineering aide for Texas Instruments, Attleboro for 32 years before retiring in 1968.
He was a member of Assembly of God Church, South Attleboro.
PAWTUCKET - Mae Jacob, 94, formerly of Woodside Ave., passed away peacefully on Friday, August 24, 2012.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Marie (Muttar) Jacob. Mae leaves several cousins. She was the sister of the late Melvina and Jennie Jacob.
Jeanne M. Trahan
PAWTUCKET - Jeanne M. (Lefebvre) Trahan, 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Roger A. Trahan for 49 years.
Born in Blackstone, MA, she was a daughter of Beatrice (Champagne) Lefebvre of Blackstone, MA and the late Constant Lefebvre. Jeanne worked in the accounting department of the RI Textile Co., Pawtucket, for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting artificial floral arrangements and making her own scented hand lotions.
COVENTRY - Kareemo, Sidney 85 passed away August 20, 2012. He was the husband of the late Marie D. (Carreiro) Kareemo. Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Anthony and Margaret (Slabo) Kareemo.
Mr. Kareemo was a US Navy WWII veteran.
Sidney will always be remembered by his family for his endless love and guidance.
He is survived by a daughter Gail Wilson, siblings; Mary Hermiz and James Kareemo, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Barbara Del Vicaro.
His funeral and burial will be private.
PAWTUCKET - Robert Fay, 77, of Lowell Avenue, Pawtucket, passed away on August 21, 2012 at his home. He was born in Pawtucket to the late John E. and Agnes (Boland) Fay.
Robert was a retiree from the US Naval Reserves and worked in Security for many years at Lincoln Downs Racing Association, Narragansett Park and Memorial Hospital. He was a member of the Local 251 Teamsters Union and was a fan of the Yankees and Patriots as well as being a thoroughbred racing enthusiast and enjoyed walking on the beach admiring the sunsets.
William E. Chiaverini Sr
PAWTUCKET: William E. Chiaverini Sr, 73, passed August 20th at home with his loving family by his side. He was husband of Margaret (Moffat) Chiaverini. They have been married for 47 years.
He was the son of the late William and Alice (Hamel) Chiaverini.
He had been employed as a driver by YCN Transportation for many years.
PAWTUCKET - Stella Kalenkiewicz, 96, passed away Monday August 20, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley Kalenkiewicz.
Born in Fall River, MA she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Wybraniec) Sypek.
Before retiring in 1980 she was employed as a Box Maker for the Douglas Young Co.
She was a member of St. Leo's Church Seniors.
Stella leaves nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alice Winiarski, Amelia Rodowicz, Stephen and Frederick Sypek.
