Lincoln to celebrate 1904 World’s Fair exhibit Sunday

July 6, 2014

LINCOLN – It was a highlight of the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, Mo., and like many things of the past, the Great Observation Wheel that towered 23 stories over the fairgrounds no longer exists.

But there are still physical reminders of the great exhibition that introduced hot dogs in buns, cotton candy, iced tea and ice cream in a waffle cone to the world. One of them, in fact, sits along Great Road — the town’s historic Hearthside House and Museum.
