A night of fright at Slater Park could be a Halloween delight

PAWTUCKET — Whether you like your Halloween fun to be scary or “illuminating,” there are activities in Slater Park this weekend that fits both bills.

Beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m., Slater Park will host “Fright Night in the Park.” Halloween events will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings only, through Oct. 26 (with the exception of inclement weather).

East Providence bond rating earns a major upgrade

EAST PROVIDENCE – In recognition of the city’s improving financial performance, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services Tuesday raised East Providence’s general obligation bond rating five notches to “A” from “BB+”.

“The higher rating is based on our recently released local general obligation criteria, as well as the city’s improving financial performance and liquidity position and lower long-term pension liabilities,” said Standard & Poor’s credit analyst Victor Medeiros.

City granted second enterprise zone

PAWTUCKET — Thanks to some tireless lobbying on the part of city officials and local legislators, Pawtucket won approval to have a second neighborhood designated as a state-designated “Enterprise Zone” offering tax incentives to new or expanding businesses.
