CUMBERLAND â€“ Town Hall employees are trying to cope with the loss of one of their own, following the death of Finance Director Steve Woerner on Wednesday.
Woerner, 61, died after being injured in a recent fall at his home, according to Mayor Daniel J. McKee.
â€śHe was a good man that we loved down here at Town Hall,â€ť McKee said. â€śHe was very valuable to the town and a man who was close to a number of people here.â€ť
CENTRAL FALLS â€“ Police responded to an armed robbery early Thursday morning at the CVS Pharmacy at 309 Broad St.
The suspect in this case displayed a firearm to the clerk, handing a note that demanded money from the cash register, police stated in a press release. The clerk complied with the suspectâ€™s demands and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash. The last known direction was south through the parking lot and into Pawtucket. There were no injuries as a result of this incident, according to police.
PROVIDENCE â€“ With Rhode Island workers and small businesses still struggling in this tough economy, U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse Wednesday kicked off a month-long tour of small businesses in the state, and rolled out a series of initiatives to create jobs. Whitehouseâ€™s jobs plan is a mix of policies and proposals that he has advocated for throughout his time in the Senate, and which, if passed, would provide a boost to small businesses throughout the state.
