PAWTUCKET â With its stately columns, arched doorways, high ceilings and centralized downtown location, the Pawtucket Post Office on Montgomery Street was built during the golden age of mail delivery.
Now, that same grand building that was so proudly constructed in 1900 has become something of a âwhite elephantâ as mail volume drops and operating costs increase. As such, the U.S. Postal service has put the downtown landmark up for sale.

LINCOLN â A Lincoln police officer who was found guilty in January of felony battery with a dangerous weapon for kicking a handcuffed woman in the head outside a slot parlor in 2009, has resigned, Lincoln Town Administrator Joseph Almond announced Wednesday.
âEffective Aug. 10, 2012, the Town of Lincoln has accepted an unconditional and irrevocable resignation from Officer Edward Krawetz,â Almond said. âThis action has allowed the town to avoid the inherent uncertainty of costly and time-consuming litigation and appeals which would inevitably ensue if this matter remained unresolved.â
