City workers help out with holiday tradition

City employees, some elected officials, including Mayor Donald Grebien, and other volunteers helped serve food to local seniors and other members of the community on Monday at the annual Mayor's Holiday Dinner held at the Portuguese Social Club, 131 School St. The annual event, free and open to all city residents, is made possible through donations of money, food and service from area businesses and individuals. Key sponsors this year were Pawtucket Credit Union, Washington Trust and Bristol County Savings Bank.

Shea students have live chat with Dominican students

PAWTUCKET — Thanks to modern technology and the Internet, about 20 Shea High School students had the chance to interact through live video with students in the Dominican Republic on Thursday as part of this year's Lifetouch Memory Mission project.
Shea was one of three Rhode Island schools that participated in the 20-minute interactive chat with students from an elementary school in the rural town of Constanza in the Dominican Republic.
