Arrest made in Pawtucket Credit Union robbery

PAWTUCKET — A man wanted as a suspect in Friday's robbery of the Pawtucket Credit Union, along with a female believed to be his accomplice, were arrested on Wednesday afternoon by police in New York City, Pawtucket Police said.
On July 29, the credit union, located at 571 Smithfield Ave., was robbed by a male suspect. A witness observed the suspect enter a vehicle that was waiting nearby and being operated by a female.

Central Falls files for bankruptcy

CENTRAL FALLS — Calling it a move that will “allow Central Falls to re-invent itself as a viable community,” Receiver Robert Flanders announced Monday that the city has petitioned for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection.

'Victory Day' ceremony planned for August 8

PAWTUCKET -- Members of the Pawtucket Veterans Council are asked to assemble at Pawt. Veterans' Memorial Park, Roosevelt Ave. and Exchange St. on Monday, August 8, at 11 a.m. for Victory Day ceremonies.
Mayor Don Grebien, various city councilors, Brig. Gen Brian Goodwin and Daniel Evangelista, Chief, RI Office of Veterans' Affairs, are invited as well as the general public, especially veterans. Afterwards we have been invited to visit Gatchell VFW Post.
