Mural celebrates centennial of Berger Recycling

PAWTUCKET — A business based on “junk” can really be a beautiful thing. Just drive down Front Street and witness the colorful mural being created on the side of a Berger Recycling warehouse by artist Fisiha Likke.

Man pleads guilty to carjacking

PAWTUCKET — A 24-year-old man with a lengthy criminal record has pleaded guilty to a 2010 carjacking incident involving a 72-year-old woman that occurred in the CVS parking lot on Smithfield Avenue in Pawtucket.

Drawing chosen for festival

PAWTUCKET — A pen and ink drawing called “Mill Buildings, Pawtucket,” by artist Alan Metnick, has been chosen to be reproduced on the 2011 Pawtucket Arts Festival poster.
Metnick is the owner and president of Ten Trees Design Group, a screenprinting and design firm located at 560 Mineral Spring Avenue in Pawtucket. According to his website, for over 40 years, he has been creating images and objects through photography, serigraphy (silk-screens), stained glass, painting, drawing and textiles. He describes the catalyst for this work as being “historical, biblical and personal.”
