Man arrested for firing gun, assaulting cops

PAWTUCKET — A 20-year-old city man suspected of firing shots outside Tommy's Lounge early Friday morning was apprehended by police after being found with an allegedly stolen gun in his pants pocket about a half hour later.
According to Police Maj. Arthur Martins, police received a report that a man had fired shots near the bar on India Street at around 12:30 a.m. and then fled from the area. Police found several shell casings at the scene.

Town Meeting passes $70 million Lincoln budget

LINCOLN — Town Council member John Flynn, who represents Lonsdale, forecast a rather tame Financial Town Meeting as he sat in the Lincoln High School auditorium on Monday night.
Turned out, he was right.
Taxpayers unanimously passed the Fiscal Year 2011-12 combined operating budget of approximately $70.1 million to allow for the continuation of programs and services already provided. As for the breakdown supplied by the Budget Board, about $17.4 million will be allotted to the municipal side, and $47.8 million to education.
