PAWTUCKET – Mike Roose’s active military career has been over for six years. He is 29 years old and an Air Force veteran who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Cumberland native is living a personal dream as strength coach for the Pawtucket Red Sox. But he can’t quite put his military career behind him.
The Times continues to run low on its photos of veterans for the April 18 Military Page. That means this is a good week to send in a photo of your favorite military hero, whether active, deceased or just an aging veteran.
Please send photos to our email box: email@example.com or drop them off in the Veterans mail basket located on the front desk of The Times' office, 23 Exchange St., Pawtucket.
Please include the following information with your photos:
Name of soldier:
Service branch: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard.

PROVIDENCE – Kristin Grady said the Cumberland school where her son, Alex, had been going is one of the best in the area, but she nonetheless decided to send him to Blackstone Valley Prep to get him “more involvement from his teachers and a sense of belonging that was missing from his former school.”
The problem, she said, is the former Our Lady of Fatima school building in Valley Falls where the state’s first Mayoral Academy is located is only big enough for one grade, the one Alex is in now.
