PAWTUCKET - Wanda Squadrito, 91, of Bellmore Drive, Pawtucket died March 19th at Grandview Nursing Home in Cumberland. Wanda was the wife of the late Angelo Squadrito Sr.
She was born in Norwich, CT a daughter of the late Joseph and Franciska (Wojnar) Brzozowski.
Mrs. Squadrito worked for Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA for eighteen years before retiring in 1985.

PAWTUCKET - Joan Elizabeth (Tretton) LeBeau, of Pawtucket, RI, died peacefully on March 14, 2014, on her 80th birthday, of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on March 14, 1934, in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the second child of the late Eugene Tretton and Elizabeth "Lily" (Mayman) Tretton. She grew up in Seekonk, Massachusetts, and graduated from East High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Joan was a long-time resident of Pawtucket.

PAWTUCKET - Vincenza A. "Auntie Vee" (Pacia) Lincardio, 86, a longtime Pawtucket resident, passed away at Elmhurst Extended Care in Providence, on March 17, 2014. She was the wife of the late Joseph Lincardio and daughter of the late Angelo and Antonetta (Bounaito) Pacia.
Vincenza was employed in the Jewelry industry at Richmond Sales, a business owned by her brother, before her retirement.

PAWTUCKET - Josephine C. "Joan" Varone, 98, passed away Monday March 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank A. Varone.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kara) Molak. She lived in Pawtucket for the past 37 years.
Joan was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church Central Falls and a member of the former Orchard Lake Schools Ladies Auxiliary.

Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary Elizabeth (Martin) DuBreuil. Mrs. Lalime lived in Cumberland for the last two years. She previously lived at Daley Court, Pawtucket.

ATTLEBORO - Norman Raymond DeBlois of Davis Street passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital at age 83.
He was the beloved husband of Rose (Godin) DeBlois for nearly 50 years.
Born January 3, 1931 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Ernest and Blanche (Paquette) DeBlois.
Norman grew up in North Attleboro and was a 1953 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He moved to Plainville in 1964 where he resided until moving to Attleboro in 1978.
Norman attended both the Rhode Island School of Design and Dean Junior College.

PAWTUCKET - Samuel Sabbagh, 87, of Pawtucket, retired Electrical Contractor, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Haddad) Sabbagh. They were happily married for 64 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Farrah) Sabbagh.

Jim worked as a driller/blaster, was in the Marines and also for his dear friends Frank and Laura for many years.
Jim is survived by his brother Donald, first cousins Ruth and Therese, his children Rick, Tori, Mike, Joe, and Gary, grandchildren Mike, Joe, Chrissy, Stefanie, and Jessica, Great grandchildren Alexis and Joseph James Morin and Christopher Michael. He leaves many friends in East Providence, RI, and his former wife Gail G. Hunt, who brought us all together. Thanks, mom!

Clippers oust Lions, head to Division II hockey finals

WARWICK – In a perfect world, this would have been the match-up to determine the R.I. Division II Tournament champion.

Instead, the powers-that-be within the Rhode Island Interscholastic League bracketed regular-season unbeaten Cumberland High against archrival Lincoln, which had dropped a pair of one-goal decisions to the Clippers, in a D-II semifinal.

This one had all the drama and intrigue of a championship final, especially the rubber match between the two at Thayer Arena on Monday night.

Instead, everyone associated with the Providence College men’s basketball program wore grey short-sleeve t-shirts that on the front features a poignant and simple battle cry – HEART & SOUL.

Students to get first look at new assessment test in spring

LINCOLN – The local public schools are about to make the shift from one statewide student assessment system, the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP), to its replacement and will be giving students a first look at the change this spring.
The initial round of testing under the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is being done on a practice basis in Rhode Island school districts and will be used as a database for the state Department of Education to adjust the testing process before it becomes the new assessment of student achievement.

Born December 30, 1933, in Attleboro, he was a son of the late Hugh and Catherine Smith.
George resided most of his life in the Attleboro area. He was employed at Texnor Apex Co. in Pawtucket for many years before his retirement. He loved line dancing, woodworking and made beautiful doll houses.

PAWTUCKET - Paul C. O'Neill, 78, of Pawtucket, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Dolores (Cote) O'Neill. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Crane) O'Neill.
Paul worked in the automotive industry for many years. He later worked for the Pawtucket School Department, retiring in 1996. He then worked in the O'Neill family funeral business for the last 17 years.

PAWTUCKET - Anne "Dolly" C. (Romano) Penza, 90, of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Thursday, March 13, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Silvio S. Penza for 61 years. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Vito and Camella (Facienda) Romano, she resided in Pawtucket most of her life before moving to Vero Beach, Florida in November of 2006. She was a 1942 graduate of Pawtucket West High School.
