She was born in Rhode Island to Agna and Muriel Pion on October 25, 1924. She married Raymond J. Bussey in 1943.
She is survived by two daughters; Elaine Proulx of Indio, CA and Carol Liaboe of San Jacinto, CA, two sons Raymond Bussey of Tomales, CA and Robert Bussey of Big Bear, CA., 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

CUMBERLAND - Dolores T. DeCosta, 81 of formerly of One Mendon Road passed away Sunday in Palms West Hospital, Loxahatchee, FL. She was the wife of the late George DeCosta.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Florence (Beauchamp) Palin. She resided Loxahatchee for the past 6 years previously residing in Cumberland for 45 years and New Bedford, MA.
She was a member of the Amalgamated Cotton and Garment Allied Industry Union for 26 years, the Cumberland Housing Authority and the AARP.

PAWTUCKET - Mary Walsh, 90 of 175 Broad Street, Pawtucket died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Evergreen Nursing Home after a courageous and dignified battle with lung cancer. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. Walsh who preceded her in death the previous year on the same date. They had been married 68 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Cassidy) and Edward Purcell.
Before retiring, she was employed by Glencairn Manufacturing. Mary was also a member of the Kennedy Housing Tenants Association.

He was the husband of the late Tracy (Soares) Pytka.
He was a loving father to his children and will be sadly missed.
Born in Pawtucket, the son of Joan (Otis) Pytka and the late Peter J. Pytka.
He was the father of Peter J. Pytka III, Jaymee and Julia, and is also survived by a sister, Jessica Jean and her husband Scott.

CUMBERLAND - William J. Matisewski, 85, of Citizen Street, passed away Monday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Marek) Matisewski, and they had been married for 61 years.
Born in Clinton, MA; he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Golash)Matisewski. He resided in Cumberland for most of his life.
He was a United States Army, World War II Veteran, serving during the European Theater of Operations.

St. Raphael grabs hoop win over Cranston West

PAWTUCKET – Tom Sorrentine is still fitting together the pieces of the puzzle that is the St. Raphael Academy basketball team. And so far, “Saar” likes what he is seeing from his Saints, who improved to 4-1 in Division I with a 61-47 victory over Cranston West on Tuesday night.
The Saints, who led 35-15 late in the first half, overcame some sloppy passing with a tough defensive effort and strong work in the rebounding department from the front line of Trevor Vasey, Cesar Mejia, Davon Robertson and Benjamin Pillsbury.

We will have some baseball news to savor this afternoon when the Hall of Fame balloting is revealed to the public. Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven are expected to get into the HOF today. Several other players are on the cusp – Jeff Bagwell, Larry Walker, Jack Morris and Tim Raines.
Rafael Palmeiro could make it, too, if the voters forgive him for telling Congress he never did steroids and then flunking a urine test several months later, late in his career, long after he had amassed most of his 569 career home runs.

He was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church where he was a member of the Men's Club.

Born on April 6, 1911 in Woonsocket, the first child of the late Lars Walfrid and Caroline Elizabeth (Johnson) Hedberg, she had been a resident of Cumberland for many years.

Born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late James and Ida (Deschenes) Cardoza. Mrs Paquin, who loved to travel worked for The Union Wadding Co. (Pawtucket) for many years.

PAWTUCKET — Jeanne (Rice) Murphy, who died last Thursday at age 84, had a career unlike almost any other reporter at the old Pawtucket Times.
Murphy first began working for the newspaper as a high school intern back in 1944.
“The newsroom had been decimated by World War II,” Jeanne’s daughter Sheila recalled. “The managing editor liked the way my mother wrote and offered her a job.”

PAWTUCKET - Antonio Pires Jr., 68, of Owen Ave. passed away on Friday in the Miriam Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Messier) Lavallee-Pires and the late Esperanza "Hope" (Ramonett) Pires.
Born in Central Falls he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Neves) Pires Sr. He resided in Pawtucket for the past 40 years.
He was a sprinkler fitter for 35 years employed out of Sprinkler Fitters Local 676, Hartford retiring in 2002.
Mr. Pires was a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Garfield Social Club, Central Falls.

PAWTUCKET - Audrey L. (Pond) DeRoy, 58, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011. Born in Attleboro, she was a daughter of Halsey B. Pond of Pawtucket and the late Theresa Hope (Desmarais) Pond, and the stepdaughter of Margaret Pond of Pawtucket.
Audrey resided in Attleboro before moving to Pawtucket three years ago. She was a supervisor at Delta Imperial Pearl, East Providence for thirty years until retiring.
Audrey loved children, animals and the ocean.
