CUMBERLAND - Claire M. Belisle, 91, of Cumberland, died Tuesday at Mt. St. Rita Health Centre. She was the wife of the late Henry E. Belisle who died in August. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Domina and Theophita (Therrien) Dupre.

PAWTUCKET - Maria de Jesus Cortes, 97 of Gill Street passed away Tuesday in the Pawtucket Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Pawtucket. She was the beloved wife of the late Gaspar Cortes daSilva.
Born in Celorico da Beira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose and Virginia (Elias) daCruz. She resided in Pawtucket for the past 3 years previously residing in Portugal for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.
PAWTUCKET - Benedict Wrzesniak, 71, of Parkview Drive passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at hisresidence. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Ise)
Born in Frankfurt, Germany he was a son of of the late Benedykt and Weronika (Czalik) Wrzesniak. He lived in Pawtucket for the past 20 years and was formerly of Cumberland.
Before retiring he owned and operated toe former Cumberland Pub for many years.
CUMBERLAND - Arthur Bernardo, 80, of Rhode Island Ave., passed away Tuesday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda (Brito) Bernardo. They had been married for the past 57 years.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Francisco and Felisbela (Duarte) Bernardo. He was a lifelong Cumberland resident.
Joseph M. Fournier
PAWTUCKET - Joseph M. Fournier, 89, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Doris E. (Fontaine) Fournier for sixty-six years. Born in Central Falls, a son of the late Raoul and Laura (Riendeau) Fournier, he resided in Pawtucket most of his life.
John E. Croke, III
OLYMPIA, WA - John E. Croke, III, 71, a long time resident of Rhode Island, died December 10, 2014 in Olympia, WA, after a brief illness.
Son of the late John E. Jr., and Gertrude (Grimes) Croke, he was born in Providence and raised in Pawtucket. A graduate of Our Lady of Providence Seminary and Rhode Island College, he was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving aboard the USS Tecumseh SSBN-628. He retired from the Army Reserve after 16 years as a Sergeant First Class.
CUMBERLAND â€” Junior tri-captain Kayleigh Canavan expected to swim rather well in Cumberland Highâ€™s Division I season opener against Smithfield on Tuesday afternoon, but what she accomplished, frankly, threw her for a loop.
Canavan not only manufactured two of her best times ever while capturing the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke, but she also mustered a superb 50 breaststroke leg in the 200 medley relay to pace her Clippers to an easier-than-expected 55-38 triumph over the Sentinels at the Aquatic Center.
PAWTUCKET â€“ A loud disturbance between several people was allegedly punctuated with gunfire, police told The Times.
A Central Falls man was charged after police say he pulled a gun and fired a shot into the air during a disturbance on John Street Sunday afternoon.
At about 2 p.m. on Sunday, police officers were dispatched to the area of 48 John St. for a call of a fight possibly involving a discharged firearm, police Maj. Arthur Martins said.
The altercation involved different factions of groups that dislike each other, however, the major did not say it was gang-related.
Frank A. Reddington
PAWTUCKET - Frank A. Reddington, 90, of Pawtucket died Monday, December 15, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Ann R. (Burns) Reddington. Mr. and Mrs. Reddington celebrated their 63rd anniversary this past June 16.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late John and Daisy (Palmer) Reddington.
CENTRAL FALLS - Joan "Scotty" Belanger, 83, passed on December 14th. She was the wife of the late Roger Belanger.
Born in Scotland, Joan was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Murdoch) Craig.
She had retired from Texas Instruments, and was very active at several area senior centers, enjoyed travel, swimming, playing cards, bowling and camping.
Barbara L Rogers
PAWTUCKET - Barbara L Rogers, 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 9, 2014. She was the daughter of the late James Leo & Ruth Donnelly.
Barbara was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother & great-great grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
Barbara is survived by two sons, David & James Rogers and two daughters, Eileen Souza & Donna Sabatini. 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren and several nieces & nephews
Edward A. Faunce
PAWTUCKET - Edward A. Faunce of Lincoln died on December 14, 2014.
Mr. Faunce was born in Pawtucket the son of Dorothy (Justice) Faunce and the late Arthur Faunce.
Besides his mother Edward is survived by his sisters Judith A. Rott of Lincoln, Clare O'Neill and her husband Gerald of Pawtucket, and Joan Mooney of Cumberland. He also leaves a brother Arthur Faunce and his wife Stella of Connicticut. Edward was the brother of the late James Faunce.
His funeral and burial will be at a later date.
PAWTUCKET - Theresa Hainey, 86, passed away Monday December 15, 2014. She was the wife of the late Vincent Hainey.
She is survived by her children, Michael Hainey, and Rita Clement.

NORTH ATTLEBORO â€“ The man who died after his Cadillac CTS veered off I-95 and crashed into a tree Sunday has been identified by the Massachusetts State Police as 31-year-old Lukasz Prokop, 31, of Cumberland.
Police said Prokop was traveling southbound on I-95 with one other passenger in the sedan when the vehicle left the highway just north of the I-295 ramp, near Toner Boulevard.
Medical personnel from the North Attleboro Fire Department transported Prokop to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Frederick C. Urbanowicz
PAWTUCKET - Frederick C. Urbanowicz, 70, of Booth Avenue passed away Monday December 15, 2014 at Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island. He was the former husband of Bernardine (Durlack) Urbanowicz.
Born in Pawtucket he was a son of the late Charles and Ann (Farnworth) Urbanowicz. He lived in Pawtucket for the past 6 years and was formerly of Seekonk.
Before retiring Fred was employed as a Master Electrician for C.O. Hoffacker for many years.
He was an U.S. Army SP-5 serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the Elks, VFW and the Moose Lodge, all of Attleboro.
Joseph W. LaBranche
SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Joseph W. LaBranche, 93, of Lincoln, formerly of Tomlinson Road, Attleboro passed away Sunday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Unit, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Florence M. (Dauray) LaBranche, and they had been married for the past 69 years.
Born in New Market, NH, he was the son of the late Emile and Emma (Thibeault) LaBranche. He resided in Lincoln for the past year, previously residing in South Attleboro since 1975.
Edward J. Miller
PAWTUCKET - Edward J. Miller, 101, of Pawtucket died on December 14, 2014.
Mr. Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York the son of the late Edward J. Miller and Anna (Connors) Miller.
He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Miller landed in Normandy on D Day, June 6, 1946, the Longest Day, where he served as a Medic, and was part of the Allies march to freedom in Europe. When he returned home he was a chef at the Fountain Blue Restaurant in Miami, Florida and then worked in the textile industry here in Rhode Island.

SEEKONK - David "Sonny" L. Lapham, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Wilbur D. and Blanche M. (Arpin) Lapham.
