PAWTUCKET - Ernest W. Levasseur, Jr., 81, quietly passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, following a battle with cancer. Ernie was born and raised in Pawtucket, RI and was pre-deceased by two spouses; Delores Levasseur and Lauretta Ferriera Levasseur.

PAWTUCKET - Hubert "Curly" J. Fregeolle, 88, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite "Peg" (Salois) Fregeolle, the couple would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on Labor Day. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Ernest and Alice (Millotte) Fregeolle. Curly was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, he served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater aboard the destroyer, USS Picking. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Cecilia Church.

SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Matilda "Tillie" D. (Lapham) Fortunati, passed away at home on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Fortunati. Born in Seekonk, the daughter of the late Wilbur D. and Blanche M. (Arpin) Lapham, she resided in Pawtucket before moving to South Attleboro 25 years ago.
Tillie had been employed by the Ledgemont Country Club, Fram and the Harvest Bakery. She gave freely of her time and talent by volunteering for many different organizations including the Memorial Hospital of RI and Meals on Wheels.
PAWTUCKET - Russell Turmel, 81, passed Wednesday July 16th with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of the late Edna B. (Lambert) Turmel. He was of the son late Wilfred and Elizabeth (Shorrock) Turmel. Russell was the proprietor of Turner Caulking and Restoration for many years.

PAWTUCKET - Victoria M. (Lamoureux) Gonya 79, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in the Hospice center surrounded by her family and her beloved cat Mai-tai. Her husband Rudolph A. Gonya predeceased her. They had been married for 60 years. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late George Lamoureux and Victoria (Breault) Lamoureux. Victoria had been employed as a spooler and a private duty nurse in her younger days. She was also a Eucharist minister at St. Raymond Church for many years.
PAWTUCKET- Ora Potter, 88 a long-time resident of Pawtucket, died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Apollo Beach, Florida where she has been residing for the last 3 years. Service will be announced at a later date.

WEST GREENWICH - Brian R. Labonte, 48, died unexpectedly on July 14, 2014. Brian was born in Pawtucket, the son of Robert J. Labonte (Providence County Sheriff-Retired) and the late Alice V. (Thompson) Labonte.
Brian was the office manager in a local law office.
In addition to his father he leaves two sisters, Deborah Garay of Pawtucket and Donna Simmons of Springtown, TX; his nieces and nephews: Gloria Garay, Jose Garay, Nadine Simmons, and Nicole Simmons; and grandnieces and nephews Zaria, Jalen, Sincere, Jaleah, Julianna and Lola.

PROVIDENCE â Thomas Coderre, former state senator from Pawtucket and now the chief of staff to Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed, is leaving his Statehouse job to take a position with the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Coderre overcame his own high-profile troubles with substance abuse nearly a dozen years ago and became active in substance abuse treatment advocacy. He served as the board chair for Rhode Island Communities for Addiction Recovery Efforts (RICARES), and was National Field Director of Faces & Voices of Recovery, based in Washington, D.C.
SEEKONK - Robert Medeiros, 76, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Marianne Medeiros. Born in Fall River he was the son of the late Manuel C. and Mary R. Medeiros of Fall River.

CENTRAL FALLS â A joint project by students from the Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in BogotĂĄ, Colombia to transform an ugly vacant lot on Dexter Street into an attractively landscaped public plaza and park is finished.
To celebrate the completion of the six-week project, a finale party, or âParty at the Plaza,â is slated to be held tonight at 6 at 741 Dexter St. The event will include live music, food, screen printing, a photo booth and a plaza-naming contest.

CUMBERLAND â The townâs Diamond Hill Park off Diamond Hill Road has a new asphalt parking lot thanks to a $165,542 improvement project but Mayor Daniel J. McKee is asking the Town Council for an expansion of the work when it meets on Wednesday.
McKee said the Department of Environmental Management rules for use of the open space park allowed the initial paving project to cover just one acre of the available parking area at the one-time, state-operated ski area to be paved by the Cardi Corporation under the initial work.
