SAN ANTONIO — Just when everything appeared set regarding the saga involving Brandon Austin and Rodney Bullock, the one-time hot topic has been thrust back into the spotlight.
The timing of the news that the Providence police are looking into a complaint of sexual assault against one freshman that left the Providence College basketball program (Austin) and another who is still a Friar (Bullock) seems a tad curious. PC is here preparing for its first NCAA Tournament contest in a decade.

PROVIDENCE – Way back in January, St. Raphael Academy faced Scituate in a crossover tilt between league frontrunners.
Despite the Spartans’ physical presence, or the fact it would eventually become the Division II-North champion with a stellar 16-2 mark, the Saints manufactured a 44-38 triumph, though head coach Fred Saunders claimed it was a tough, aggressive affair.
The two foes met again in a R.I. Division II semifinal at Rhode Island College on Wednesday night for the right to play for the state crown on Saturday. And this time, the same ensued, except …

Students to be homeless for a night

PAWTUCKET — The 2014 6th Annual Catholic High School Homeless Sleep Out, unfortunately could not be held at the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul this year.
Instead, it will be hosted by Saint Raphael Academy tonight. There will be a Diocesan Professional Day the following day—so all Catholic High School students in the Diocese of Providence will not have school. The five schools participating in the Homeless Sleep Out are St. Raphael Academy, Bishop Hendricken, LaSalle Academy, the Prout School, and Bayview Academy.
Two-hundred students are expected at this event.

Ex-Pawtucket cop indicted

NORTH SMITHFIELD – A statewide grand jury has indicted a former Pawtucket police officer accused of choking and raping his girlfriend last year.
Stephen Ricco, 41, of 1 Tupperware Drive, was indicted on one count each of first-degree domestic sexual assault; domestic strangulation; and two counts of domestic assault. The former two charges are felonies.
The alleged incidents took place in Ricco’s condo on Nov. 28, state prosecutors said. Ricco has been held without bail at the Adult Correctional Institutions since his arrest, the same day.

PAWTUCKET - Wanda Squadrito, 91, of Bellmore Drive, Pawtucket died March 19th at Grandview Nursing Home in Cumberland. Wanda was the wife of the late Angelo Squadrito Sr.
She was born in Norwich, CT a daughter of the late Joseph and Franciska (Wojnar) Brzozowski.
Mrs. Squadrito worked for Texas Instruments in Attleboro, MA for eighteen years before retiring in 1985.

PAWTUCKET - Joan Elizabeth (Tretton) LeBeau, of Pawtucket, RI, died peacefully on March 14, 2014, on her 80th birthday, of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
She was born on March 14, 1934, in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the second child of the late Eugene Tretton and Elizabeth "Lily" (Mayman) Tretton. She grew up in Seekonk, Massachusetts, and graduated from East High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Joan was a long-time resident of Pawtucket.
