PAWTUCKET - Donald J. LeBlanc Jr., of Byron avenue, Pawtucket died on January 5, 2014.
Mr. LeBlanc was the husband of the late Eileen (McConnon) LeBlanc.
He was born in Bristol, the son of the late Donald J. LeBlanc Sr. and Victoria (Santo) LeBlanc.
Mr. LeBlanc served his Country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He earned numerous commendations during his time there including the Bronze Star Medal.

CUMBERLAND - Ruth H. Travers, 79, of Highland Avenue passed away Tuesday in R.I. Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Travers.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Chaput) Davis. She was a lifelong Cumberland resident.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.

CUMBERLAND - Mary A. (Calista) Rodrigues, 83, of Lincoln Manor, passed away Tuesday at the Grandview Center, Cumberland. She was the cherished wife of Joseph M. Rodrigues.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late John Q. and Carolina (Nobrega) Calista. She resided in Lincoln for the past 37 years, previously residing in Central Falls.
Alice was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Central Beverage Company for over 35 years until her retirement.

PROVIDENCE - Angela Morales, 88, of Hillside Avenue and formerly of Pawtucket, died Friday, January 3, 2014 at Miriam Hospital, Providence.
Born in Puerto Rico, a daughter of the late Nicolas and Modesta (Salenas) Morales, she had lived in Pawtucket for over 20 years before moving to Providence.
Angela was an assembler of jewelry boxes at International Packaging Company, Pawtucket for many years before retiring.

PAWTUCKET - Beatrice Carter Minkins, 100, of Glenwood Avenue passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was the 8th daughter of the late John Carter and Rosa L. (Jessup) Minkins.

Train depot owners draw court date

PAWTUCKET — In what appears to be a case of “buyer beware,” a small Broad Street church that purchased the old Pawtucket-Central Falls train depot from its previous owners for one dollar could potentially be facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in repair costs and significant liabilities.

Representatives of the Iglesia Pentecostal Nueva Vida En Cristo Church, of 114 Broad St., have been summoned to appear in Municipal Housing Court on Jan. 13 to answer to a host of citations related to the crumbling 99-year-old brick building.

Back to work: General Assembly open for 2014

PROVIDENCE — Acknowledging that last year’s House session “did not end nice,” with members taking personal shots at one another over various issues, House Speaker Gordon Fox gaveled the 2014 session open with a call to “make this about the people.”

“Things can not be worked out in this chamber if it gets personal,” Fox said. “If you lash out today, maybe it feels good, but ultimately it does not solve problems.”
