CENTRAL FALLS â€“ Head coach Jayar Santos gave Central Falls High senior Yesenia Biascochea the news prior to the start of their campaign.

CENTRAL FALLS â€” Former Central Falls Mayor Charles Moreau, imprisoned in Maryland on a corruption charge, is being brought back to Rhode Island by a federal judge, reportedly so his case can be reviewed anew.
U.S. District Court Judge John McConnell confirmed that he signed a court order on Tuesday calling for prison officials to transport Moreau to a Providence courtroom on Jan. 29 for a status conference. He said he could not provide any additional comment beyond that.

PAWTUCKETâ€” Four years ago, a brave young man from Senegal, battling cancer that had taken a leg and was threatening his lungs, walked across the Tolman High School stage during a special graduation ceremony held just for him.
Sadly, that young man, named Mouhamadou Sylla, passed away on Jan. 6 after continuing to display amazing courage and infectious positivity despite his worsening medical condition.

Janice L. Hutchinson
EAST PROVIDENCE- Hutchinson, Janice L. (Read) passed away January 16, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Rumford where she had lived for 63 years. She follows her husband, Al, who passed away in 2010.
They were an inseparable team since their marriage in 1943. Jan was born September 28, 1922 in Pawtucket, the daughter of Franklin D. and Mildred L. (Ludgate) Read.
Walter B. Johnson, Jr.
PAWTUCKET- Walter "Wally" B. Johnson, Jr., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 after a courageous 3 year battle with throat cancer. He was the beloved husband of Pamela M. (Bora) Johnson, they would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Cranston, he was a son of Pearl M. (Langlois) Johnson of Pawtucket and the late Walter B. Johnson, Sr.
CUMBERLAND- Piedade "Pat" Lourenco (Freitas), 95, formerly of Silva St. passed away Thursday at the Woonsocket Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Fernando Lourenco.
Born in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of the late Lucas and Virginia (Santos) Freitas.
