LINCOLN – Fans flocked to Lincoln High's Ferguson Field on Thursday afternoon/evening to catch a glimpse of what their varsity grid teams may offer this season in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League's four divisions.
Perhaps the most tense tilt for the crowds attending this R.I. Injury Fund quadruple-header came in the form of Shea's 7-0 victory over Woonsocket, that a battle of usual Division II mainstays. The most entertaining contest, however, was the third, a free-for-all between D-I's East Providence and D-II's St. Raphael Academy.
PAWTUCKET — With jokes about the waterway actually being the Seekonk River, the stylish new span that carries Interstate 95 across it was formally dedicated as the Pawtucket River Bridge Thursday in a ceremony attended by federal, state and local officials.
Gov. Lincoln Chafee, state Department of Transportation Director Michael Lewis and Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien joined in the unveiling of the sign that will be affixed to the $81 million bridge, which serves as a major link for the Rhode Island’s interstate system.
PAWTUCKET — From toddlers and teens to seniors and everyone in between, there's simply no excuse to be bored in the coming days with the 2013 Pawtucket Arts Festival lineup. The festivities get under way tonight with the Blackstone River Party and Taste of the Valley in and around Slater Mill on Roosevelt Avenue from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
