CENTRAL FALLS â€” A 27-year-old Central Falls man received two yearsâ€™ probation after admitting he practiced dentistry illegally from his Clay Street apartment.
Ray Guillen, of 77 Clay St., Apt. 2, pleaded no contest Monday before Superior Court Judge Jeffrey A. Lanphear to practicing without a license. As part of the plea agreement, a drug possession count was amended to one of maintaining a public nuisance, and two remaining charges were dismissed, according to the Attorney Generalâ€™s Office.
PAWTUCKET â€” A suspicious fire that heavily damaged a vacant two-family house at 6 Bloomingdale Ave., near the intersection with Dix Avenue, late Monday night is under investigation by city and state fire officials.
Fire Capt. Robert Thurber, the cityâ€™s fire marshal, said firefighters were called to the wood-frame dwelling at around 10:30 p.m. They extinguished the fire, but had to return several hours later, at around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, when a â€śhot spotâ€ť ignited a second blaze underneath the ceiling on the first floor.

Exilda M. Doucette
PAWTUCKET - Exilda M. Doucette, 91, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Pawtucket Skilled Nursing Facility. She was the beloved wife of Roland G. Doucette to whom she was married for 73 years.
She was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Louis and Dorina (Paquette) Morin and was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. Mrs. Doucette was a sales associate in the former Apex Department store retiring after 32 years of exceptional customer service.
She was a former member of the Central Falls Community Center.
Jose Figueroa Jr.
CHELSEA, MA. - Jose Figueroa Jr., formerly of Central Falls, passed away September 13, 2013.
He was the husband of Ashanti (Fernandes) Figueroa. Born in New Bedford, a son of Jose Figueroa of Boston and the late Awilda Cuba. He was also the step-son of Enrique Porto of Central Falls. He had lived in Central Falls several years before moving to Chelsea.
James L. Campbell
PAWTUCKET - James L. Campbell, 80, of Pawtucket, died September 15, 2013. He was the husband of Barbara (Ventruska) Campbell. He was born in Pawtucket. Son of the late Leo and Loretta (Kelly) Campbell. He was employed by American Insulated Wire Co. for fifty years until his retirement. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.
Besides his wife he is survived by two children James Campbell of San Diego, CA and Diane Fuller of Pawtucket. Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
BOSTON â€“ The Boston Red Soxâ€™ â€śHats off to Heroes Programâ€ť honored Technical Sergeant Joshua Lemois during Sunday nightâ€™s contest at Fenway Park against the New York Yankees. The ceremony took place at the end of the fourth inning.
TSgt Lemois is a member of the United States Air Force where he has served for the last 13 years. A Cumberland native, TSgt Lemois served in Saudi Arabia and volunteered for deployment in Afghanistan during his second tour of duty.
