Cops step up for kids

PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island State Police, and other law enforcement agencies across the state are cooperating to provide backpacks and school supplies to disadvantaged students from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. State Police Col. Stephen O’Donnell said this year, the fifth year the program has been in operation, they will be handing out 1,200 backpacks filled with pencils, crayons, rulers and other basic school supplies, as well as items such as tissues, paper towels, and hand sanitizer for use by the entire class. That is 450 more backpacks than were given out last year.

Sandra E. Caraman Azadim

PAWTUCKET - Sandra E. Caraman Azadim, 68, of Pawtucket, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013. She was the wife of Lachen Azadim. Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Pauline (Richard) Griffin.
She is survived by three children, Lana Mulrath, David Caraman, and his wife Lisa, and Daniel Azadim, four grandchildren, Ben Amanda, and Rebecca Mulrath, and David Caraman Jr., three sisters, Nancy O'Neill and her husband J. Edward, Celia Kemp and her husband John, and Susan Rayball, and one brother, Edward Griffin.

Merilda L. Roy

PAWTUCKET - Merilda L. (Baron) Roy, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Robert H. Roy for fifty-five years. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Adalbert and Annette (Tanguay) Baron. Merilda had been employed by the Paramount Card Company.

Henry T. Fugere

PAWTUCKET - Henry T. Fugere, 89, passed on August 22nd. He was the husband of Yvonne A. (Perron) Fugere. They had been married for 65 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Philias T. and Beatrice H. (Picard) Fugere.
He had been employed at RI Hospital for over 20 years retiring in 1988. He was an Army veteran of WWII, a former post commander of Amvets Post 33, American Legion Post 45 and former president of the Pawtucket Veterans Council. Henry enjoyed working on model airplanes.
