PAWTUCKET â On one hand, the phrase âbirds of a feather flock togetherâ seems applicable to the scouting contingent that showed up in droves last weekend at McCoy Stadium.
The section behind home plate became known as an open-air baseball boardroom; one PawSox game featured as many as nine scouts. Remember, the July 31 non-waiver deadline is not that far off â four weeks from Wednesday to be exact.
PAWTUCKET â This week, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will be working to pave several city streets that were impacted by the truck detour route during the Pawtucket River Bridge replacement project.
The roads scheduled to be paved are Roosevelt Avenue, from East Street to Exchange Street; Exchange Street, from Roosevelt Avenue to High Street; Goff Avenue, from Commerce Avenue to Pine Street; Main Street, from Pine Street to Garden Street; and Garden Street, from Main Street to Cedar Street.
CUMBERLAND â Kayden Watson calls it his âMonkey Friend,â a worn-out monkey blanket that has been his comfort keepsake since birth and his constant companion during 11 surgeries to repair gastroschisis, a congenital abdominal wall defect.
Kayden, 2Â˝, lost his monkey blanket Saturday during a family outing at the Dairy Queen in North Attleboro and his mother is asking for the publicâs help in finding it.
âThis is Kaydenâs best friend. We have searched high and low and are hoping someone may have picked it up,â says Jennifer Harken of Cumberland.
Lawrence L. Lussier
PAWTUCKET - Lawrence L. Lussier, 77, died Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Carol Ann (Greaves) Lussier. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Larry L. and Roseanna (Caron) Lussier. He has been a Pawtucket resident his entire life.
Lawrence owned and operated Larry's Dairy, was the proprietor of Bullseye Tap in Pawtucket and the owner and manager of several rental units throughout Pawtucket and Central Falls.
Beverly J. Croce
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Beverly J. Croce, 74, passed June 30, 2013. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Earl and Margaret (Shaw) Worrall. She had been a registered nurse at Women & Infants Hospital for thirty years.
Fernande A. Lavallee
LINCOLN - Fernande A. Lavallee, 95, of Read Ave., Lincoln passed away Sunday in The Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Lavallee.
Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Remy and Arziana (Archambault) Malouin. She resided in Lincoln for many years previously living in Cumberland and Central Falls.
She was a member of the former West Side Social Club.
June E. Davis
PAWTUCKET - June E. Davis, 90, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Davis. Born in Mansfield, MA, a daughter of the late William and Shirley (Bruce) Anderson, she resided in Pawtucket over fifty years. June enjoyed watching birds and loved music and dancing.
She leaves three daughters, Debra L. Davis-Crombie, Lori D. Kelleher and Holly J. Gamba; a son, Kim W. Davis and two grandsons, Liam and Matthew Kelleher. She was the mother of the late Patrick M. Davis.
