Cranking up the air conditioner is one way to stay cool during an oppressive heat wave, but with electricity usage forecast to reach near record-breaking levels this week, National Grid is asking consumers to voluntarily conserve electricity to help keep supply and demand in balance during the hot spell.
â€śThereâ€™s always a concern when we have prolonged hot weather, but rarely do we see five to six days of this kind of oppressive heat and humidity,â€ť said National Grid Spokesman David D. Graves.
PAWTUCKET - Elaine Oliveira (Haworth) 77, of Pawtucket died July 13, 2013. She was the wife of the late Francisco Oliveira. She was born in Providence, daughter of the late Harry and Annie (Farnworth) Haworth. She was employed by A & J Jewelry of Providence for thirty years until her retirement. She served many years at St. Luke's Episcopal Church as parish administrator. She was an active member of Episcopal Church Women.
George J. Landry, Jr.
PAWTUCKET - George J. Landry, Jr. 30, of Slade Street, Pawtucket, passed at home on July 15, 2013.
Born in Attleboro on October 14, 1982, he was the son of George J. Sr. and Catherine (McClellan) Landry. George was educated in Attleboro schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School. He was currently working as a receiver at Trader Joe's warehouse in Middleboro. George was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his son and family.
Arnold K. Conover
CUMBERLAND - Arnold "Ronnie" K. Conover, 68, of Pawtucket, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday at Home and Hospice Care of RI, Providence.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Irene (Sousa) Conover. He resided in Pawtucket for over 40 years, previously residing in Cumberland.
Mr. Conover was a Seaman for the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era.
He was a retired teamster of Local 251.
Robert L. Beck
PAWTUCKET - Robert L. Beck, of Parkview Drive, Pawtucket died on July 15, 2013
He was the loving husband of Denise (Fitzpatrick) Beck. He was also the husband of the late Loretta (Poirier) Beck.
Mr. Beck was born in Norton, Massachusetts, the son of the late George and Beatrice (Thibeaux) Beck.
Mr. Beck was a truck driver for many years and proudly served in the United States Army for his country.
