PAWTUCKET â€” A 38-year-old city man, reportedly an ex-boxer, has been charged in the brutal beating of a homeless man that occurred on May 18.
According to Pawtucket Police, the suspect has been identified as as Rafael Torres, 38, of 82 Sabin St.. Torres is accused of pummeling 58-year-old John Simms, of no permanent address, in a dispute. Torres, also known to live on the streets, was reported to have been angry with Simms because he drank his bottle of vodka.
CUMBERLAND â€“ Steaming plates of tripe stew and barbecue chicken and the traditional Marchas de SĂŁo JoĂŁo will highlight Clube Juventude Lusitanaâ€™s annual Saint Johnâ€™s Feast, a three-day Portuguese festival that kicks off tonight.
One of the biggest Portuguese feasts of its kind in Rhode Island, the festival grounds at the clubâ€™s headquarters on Chase Street, including its three function halls, will be teeming with activity with everything from Portuguese folkloric dancing groups to the clubâ€™s traditional SĂŁo JoĂŁo parade in honor of St. Johnâ€™s Day.
Francis A. Deneault
NORTH PROVIDENCE - Deneault, Francis A. "Frank", 54, of North Providence, died June 14, 2013 in Orlando, FL. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Bessette) Deneault. He was born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Oscar F. and Jeanne T. (Doyon) Deneault. He was employed by the State of RI in the Treasurers Dept. for 28 years until his retirement in January. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
David E. Frazier
CUMBERLAND - David E. Frazier, 90, of Cumberland, died June 19, 2013. He was the husband of Claire (Marchand) Frazier.
Mr. Frazier was a World War II Navy Veteran.
Besides his wife Claire he leaves his sons Daniel E. and his late wife Janet Frazier of Cumberland and David M. and his wife Arlene Frazier of Lincoln, his sister Doris Gauvin of Cumberland, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
