Bradley’s patience tested in rehab role with PawSox

PAWTUCKET – Jackie Bradley Jr. is no longer on the disabled list. However, the promising outfielder remains in a holding pattern.

At least for the foreseeable future, Bradley will be subjected to a schedule that the Red Sox put together in an effort to ease him back into full-time duty. He missed nearly two weeks earlier this month due to tendinitis in his right bicep, an injury that he first noticed during Pawtucket’s road trip to Rochester and Buffalo late last month.

City man injured in home invasion

PAWTUCKET — A 41-year-old city man suffered cuts to his hands after trying to defend himself against two intruders to his Dawson Street home early Sunday morning, police said.
According to Major Arthur Martins, the man told police he was watching TV at his home at around 1:48 a.m. when two masked men, dressed all in black, entered through an unlocked door. He said that one of the men grabbed him from behind and tried to strangle him and another was armed with a knife.

Movie scenes being filmed at city’s Galway Bay Pub

PAWTUCKET — A movie described as a “paranormal family drama” is set to begin filming scenes in Rhode Island and Massachusetts this week, including at a local Irish bar.
According to a press release from Boston-based tFrog Films, Justine Gendron and Kyle Johannessan announce the filming of principal photography for the short film “Devil May Care.” Filming is set for May 23 through May 27 in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Locations include Pawtucket's own Galway Bay Pub, as well as St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Newburyport, Mass. and Island Grove Park in Abington, Mass.

PAWTUCKET - Mary T. Slaby 93, of Jeanne Jugan Residence 964 Main Street passed away Sunday May 19, 2013 at Pawtucket Memorial Hospital.
Born in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (Koziol) Slaby.
Before retiring in 1980 Mary was employed as an Assembler for Carol Cable Co. for 44 years.
For many years Mary was a communicant and active member of St. Joseph's Parish in Central Falls, and a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of the Orchard Lake Schools.

NORTH PROVIDENCE - Audrey Carolyn (Wulff) Quinlan of Swan Court, North Providence and formerly of Pawtucket died on Sunday May, 19, 2013. She was the wife of the late Francis B. "Lefty" Quinlan.
Mrs. Quinlan was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Louis and Anna (Scott) Wulff.

PAWTUCKET - Thomas F. O'Brien, 96, of East Ave., died at Landmark Medical Center on Friday. Born in Pawtucket a son of the late John J. and Delia A. (Flaherty) O'Brien.
Mr. O'Brien lived most of his life in the city. He was a letter carrier for US Postal Service for 31 years, retiring in 1977. He was a veteran of the US Army Signal Corps during WWII.
His only survivor was a friend, Noreen Sherys of Cumberland. He was the brother of the late John J. O'Brien and Winifred Gill.

CENTRAL FALLS - Rose (Abraham) Sweeting, 94, of Eben Brown Lane died Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George Sweeting.
A lifelong resident of Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Moses and Annie (Shabo) Abraham.
Mrs. Sweeting was a jewelry worker for Monet Jewelers, Pawtucket before retiring.
She was a member of St. Ephraim's Syrian Orthodox Church, Central Falls, where she was also a member of the Ladies Society of the Church.

PAWTUCKET - Dr. Nora M. Walker, 87, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Parfenchuck for twenty-seven years. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dada) Walker.
