PawSox open homestand with win over Gwinnett

PAWTUCKET – Fresh off a 6-2 swing through the International League’s South Division, the Pawtucket Red Sox defeated Gwinnett by a 5-3 count Tuesday night before 3,596 fans at McCoy Stadium.
Making his first appearance on the mound since getting roughed up by Minnesota last Wednesday at Fenway Park, Allen Webster tossed five innings of one-run ball en route to picking up his second victory with the PawSox.

DiSarcina explains ‘manager’s decision’ to sit Iglesias

PAWTUCKET – Finally, a little clarification to “manager’s decision.”
For roughly seven minutes Tuesday, PawSox skipper Gary DiSarcina stood in his office and shed some light as to why shortstop Jose Iglesias was absent from the lineup for three consecutive days after getting removed in the top of the fifth inning of the May 4 contest.
It was fairly obvious that DiSarcina caught wind as to what some folks were passing off as the explanation to why Iglesias spent time on the bench. Such suspicions were way off base because they didn’t come straight from the horse’s mouth.

6th graders will be moved in September

PAWTUCKET — Despite acknowledgments that it’s not an ideal situation, the Schools Superintendent intends to proceed with plans to move a majority of the incoming 6th graders to Goff or Slater junior high schools in September to deal with overcrowding.

Johnson's legacy to be displayed at public library

PAWTUCKET – Elizabeth J. “Betty” Johnson has been gone three years now but the 85-year-old’s love of local history is still paying dividends for the city she devoted so much energy toward.
Her carefully organized notes, clippings, photographs and Pawtucket memorabilia — previously kept in her longtime home at 30 Fruit Street — have been moved into the archives of the Pawtucket Public Library where they can be accessed by researchers wishing to delve into local lore.

NORTH PROVIDENCE - Ernest J. Feuti, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Janice M. (Banach) Feuti. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Antoinetta (Prete) Feuti. Ernest was a member of the Attleboro Lodge of Elks # 1014 and the Fraternal Order of Police Associates.
Ernest leaves his siblings, Eleanor M. Peloquin and her husband, Noel of Pawtucket and Robert G. Feuti and his wife, Roberta of Charlestown, RI and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Carolyn Duquette.
