PROVIDENCE – Through all the twists and turns on his basketball journey, Ricky Ledo never once lost sight of what he interpreted to be the brass ring.
Mentioning Ledo and the NBA in the same sentence is a parlor game that’s been en vogue for quite some time. The Providence native always seemed to have a twinkle in his eye when it came to pro hoops – his tunnel vision so clairvoyant that the only matter left to itemize was to wait for Declaration Day.

PAWTUCKET - Raymond J. Canning passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary M. (Kearns) Canning. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Leo E. and Madeline V. (ONeill) Canning.
Ray was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a steelworker at Congdon & Carpenter, Seekonk before retiring in 1988, and was previously employed by the Washburn Wire Company, Rumford.
He leaves a son, Earl "Duke" F. Aldrich Jr.; a granddaughter, Shelly L. Vieira and a great-granddaughter, Emma May Vieira all of Pawtucket.

Arthur J. Battersby Jr.

PAWTUCKET - Arthur J. Battersby Jr., "Sonny" 77, passed peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Smith) Battersby. They were married for 56 years.
He was the son of Arthur and Jeannette (Bechard) Battersby.
Arthur had been employed as a tool maker and machinist for many years.
Arthur was a Korean War Veteran, and served in the Army reserve for 24 years.

UPDATE on bank robbery in C.F.

CENTRAL FALLS – Police Tuesday were investigating a reported bank robbery involving two armed suspects at the Navigant Credit Union on Broad Street.
According to reports, two males dressed in black and wearing black masks walked into the 693 Broad St. bank where they showed a firearm and demanded cash from a teller. The suspects were reported to have fled the scene in a green Chevy Impala with red dealer plates, and they were last seen heading toward Pawtucket.

PAWTUCKET — Though hailed as a centerpiece of the future Slater Mill National Park that local and state tourism officials are hoping becomes a reality, the Blackstone Valley Visitors Center at 175 Main St. has been struggling to pay its bills and its quasi-public owners are planning to put it up for sale.

PAWTUCKET — Graciette Nobre sat next to her tearful mother and other family members on the curb across from 191 Harrison Street on Monday as officials walked in and around the burned-out multi-family that was their home until yesterday afternoon. “I just want to get in there and see if I can get my car keys, and find any of my stuff,” she said. “All of my things, my documents, are in there.”
