CUMBERLAND - Lucille Frappier, 93, passed peacefully on February 26th. She was the wife of the late Alfred H. Frappier.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Dollard and Rose Alma (St. Pierre) Remy.
She had been employed by Crystal Thermo Plastics, Magco Plastics and JP Coats.
She was a member of the former Ashton Homemakers.

PAWTUCKET - Marie F. (Gavin) Bouchard, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was beloved wife of the late Francis E. Mayers and Gerard Bouchard.
Born in Cambridge, MA, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Hazel T. (Burnham) Gavin. Marie resided in Connecticut where she worked as a nurses aide before moving to Pawtucket in 1996, and then worked as an assistant at Rose's Daycare for 17 years. She was an active member of the Senior's Club at St. Teresa Parish, Pawtucket.

PAWTUCKET - Richard "Dick" T. Tomasso, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Shirley L. (Webster) Tomasso for 47 years.
Born in Providence, a son of Mary (Salzillo) Tomasso of Providence and the late John Tomasso, he resided in Pawtucket since 1992. Dick was a diamond tool maker for J & M Diamond Tool Co., Inc., East Providence for over 40 years. He enjoyed the ocean, especially sitting on the rocks at Galilee and watching the boats. Most of all he loved his family.

PAWTUCKET - Worthington "Sparky" Leonard, 92, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Gloria C. (Lefebvre) Leonard for 66 years.
Born in Fairfax, Vermont, a son of the late Wesley J. and Jennie (Ward) Leonard, he resided in Pawtucket the past 67 years. A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Infantry 85th Division in Italy and France. Sparky was employed by Brown & Sharpe, Providence for 40 years before retiring in 1981, and was a member of the International Machine Association.

PAWTUCKET - Ruth L. Beaudoin, 83, formerly of Pawtucket passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Irving J. Beaudoin.
Mrs. Beaudoin was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Clarence Bury and Ernestine (Oliveira) Bury. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for many years before she retired in 1987.

SWANSEA, MA - Gilbert E. Arundale, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his home in Swansea, Massachusetts surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Robertine (Gauthier) Arundale.
Mr. Arundale was born in Central Falls, the son of the late Edwin Arundale and Mary E. (Mills) Arundale. He was employed at Collyer Wire for many years where he was a wire insulator.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving in WWII.

Pawtucket prepping for St. Patrick’s Day Parade

PAWTUCKET — The grand marshal and Irish “faces” have been chosen, the raffle has been held and the shamrock will be painted in the street in front of City Hall this morning. In short, the city is gearing up for its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday.
The parade will step off on Saturday, March 2, at noon (rain or shine) from McCoy Stadium on Division Street. The parade then proceeds down South Bend Street to Walcott Street, then into the downtown and onto Roosevelt Avenue, where it passes by a reviewing stand in front of City Hall.

Shea, Cumberland, North Smithfield all in same region for R.I. state hoops tourney

After the four, four-team regions that comprise the R.I. boys’ basketball open tournament were revealed, clever minds declared Region IV “The Blackstone Valley Invitational.”
The folks at The Prout School may feel slighted with such a bold declaration, but look at the rest of the region’s participants. Here you have two of the three division champions in Cumberland and North Smithfield along with Shea.
In other words, the moniker fits.
