WARWICK â€“ If everything shakes out according to Thorr Bjornâ€™s plan, the University of Rhode Island will have a new football head coach in place by the middle of the month.
Speaking about the ongoing search to find Joe Trainerâ€™s successor at a college basketball luncheon held at the Radisson Hotel, Bjorn stated that the official job posting in accordance with state requirements took place Monday. The Rams' athletic director noted that such a step must take place before interviewing prospective candidates.
PAWTUCKETâ€”A substitute teacher who was working at Slater Junior High School last week was arrested on Wednesday after a female student alleged that he had touched her inappropriately.
Warren Tassone, 22, of 180 Rounds Ave., Providence, was charged with second-degree child molestation (forcible fondling), according to police.
Lucille T. Dowling
PAWTUCKET- Lucille T. (Doyle) Dowling, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2013. She was the beloved wife of George W. Dowling for 63 years.
Born in Providence, the daughter of the late James and Beatrice (Jordin) Doyle.
Lucille lived in East Providence for 51 years before moving to Pawtucket. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Lucille was a member of the Trinity Club Women's Auxiliary and a former volunteer at Sacred Heart Parish in East Providence.
Robert A. Pelletier
PAWTUCKET- Robert A. Pelletier, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara J. (Kelly) Pelletier.
Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Louis and Sarah (Adams) Pelletier.
Robert was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and he worked as a draftsman and designer at FRAM, East Providence, until retiring in 1991.
SOUTH KINGSTOWN- Haworth, Edward, 90, went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved and inseparable husband of Lena Louise (Cotton) Haworth for sixty seven years.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Alexander and Esther (Walmsley) Haworth.
Dorothy M. Alker
PROVIDENCE- Dorothy M. Alker, 102, of Benefit Street died Friday, November 29, 2013 at Hallworth House, Providence.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late William E. and Agnes (Shaw) Alker, she had lived in Pawtucket for 45 years and Cranston for 40 years before moving to Providence several years ago.
Miss Alker was the executive secretary to the Vice President of the Trust Department of the former Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bonk, Providence for 40 years before retiring in 1971.
SEEKONK- Isabelle (Risho) Parise, 77, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Serbo (Sarkis) Risho.
Isabelle was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt who will be sadly missed by all.
Nora A. Caetano
PAWTUCKET- Nora A. Caetano, of Pawtucket passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013.
She was born in Pawtucket, the daughter of the late Felismino Caetano and Deolinda DeJesus (Morais) Caetano.
Miss Caetano was a seamstress in the textile industry for many years. She was a proud lifelong resident of Pawtucket and an avid Red Sox fan, and was absolutely thrilled when they won the World Series last month.
