PAWTUCKET â€” The busy holiday season is approaching, and with it comes more worries for those who are struggling to make ends meet. As it has for the past 31 years, The Times is trying to help by raising money through its annual Merry Christmas Fund that benefits The Salvation Army of Pawtucket.
PROVIDENCE â€“ As he watched one Providence player after another foul out, Ed Cooley took a hard and long look at the available options on the bench.
What the head coach saw was his sophomore point guard in a finely tailored suit sitting alongside a collection of reserves that suddenly found themselves in the eye of the storm. With his options at a premium, Cooley motioned in the direction of Lee Goldsbrough and Ted Bancroft, hoping beyond belief that somehow, PC could survive this overtime session against Boston College.
Thomas P. O'Brien
NARRAGANSETT - Thomas P. O'Brien passed away on October 29, 2013. Born in Pawtucket, he was the beloved son of Norman F. and Jane M. O'Brien. Tom was a graduate of William M. Davies High School.
Besides his parents, Tom is survived by his brothers William O'Brien of Boston, Michael O'Brien of South Kingstown, Joseph O'Brien of Rehoboth and 1 niece and 5 nephews.
CUMBERLAND - Bertrand Thibault, "Bert" 83, passed at home on November 7th. He was the husband of the late Louisette Thibault.
Born in Coleraine, Canada, He was a son of the late George and Merilda (Jean) Thibault.
Bert had been employed as a Master Plumber and Pipe Fitter for over 50 years and was the former Plumbing Inspector for the City of Central Falls and a member of Local 51.
PAWTUCKET - Antonio LaRotonda "Anthony" 84 passed November 7th. He was the companion of Janet Carpenter. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lena (Nassi) LaRotonda.
Besides his companion he is survived by six children, Rose Marie Kadiuraus, Anthony LaRotonda Jr, Michael LaRotonda, Gail Tipple, Greg LaRotonda and Brandi Mangual, two sisters, Margaret McElroy, and Norma Ricci, a brother George Vose, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Antonio was the brother of the late Amelia LaRotonda.
Agnes A. Pendergrass
LINCOLN - Agnes A. Pendergrass, 82, of Lincoln, died Thursday at Trinity Health Ctr. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Pendergrass and the daughter of the late Herman and Alice (Smith) Davy. Agnes was the oldest of their 7 daughters.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lonsdale for many years.
She is survived by her daughters Jean Costa of Lincoln, Carol Robillard of Woonsocket; her son Wayne Pendergrass of Lincoln and 2 sons of Central Falls; 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.
Normand Leo Lejeune
SUCCASUNNA, NJ - Normand Leo Lejeune, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Viviane (Joyal) Lejeune for 58 years, together they resided in Succasunna, NJ for 32 years after moving from Rehoboth, MA. Born in Central Falls, RI, he was a son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (Bessette) Lejeune.
